Marcy Gustafson

I’m Marcy Gustafson, the AEI Office Manager. I hope you are making the decision to apply to the American English Institute, which means I will soon be processing your application, issuing the Form I-20, and greeting you upon your arrival at the AEI. I’ve had the pleasure of being part of the AEI family since 1978. I love smiling and making others smile. Throughout the years, I’ve been able to watch the growth and success of students, staff, and the AEI program. I’d like to think that my presence at the AEI has been somewhat instrumental in this success! Join our AEI family–I’d love to smile with you and watch you grow, too!

Kristi Miller

My name is Kristi Miller. I have the fancy title of Master Teacher. I have three basic roles here. First, I’m a classroom teacher. I have taught at the AEI for eight years. My favorite classes to teach are reading/vocabulary and writing/grammar. My second role involves teacher training and support. The AEI partners closely with students from Fresno State’s Linguistics Department through classroom observations, practicum assignments, and apprenticeships. Finally, I work closely with our director, Margery Toll, on issues related to the curriculum. I highly recommend our program to you. The academic program is well-balanced, and the teachers work very hard to make sure the classes are meaningful. Additionally, we have some of the nicest students around. The world is represented at the AEI. It’s an exciting place to be. I hope you’ll join us.

Margery Toll

Hello! My name is Margery Toll, and I’m the director of the American English Institute at California State University, Fresno. I’ve worked in the AEI program for more than twenty years, both as a teacher and as an administrator. As director of the AEI, I have three main responsibilities. One is to make sure that all AEI students receive high-quality English instruction so that they are glad they chose to study at the AEI. My second main responsibility is to ensure the best possible guidance and training for all AEI teachers and teaching assistants. Finally, I am responsible for maintaining a comfortable, friendly, “family” environment for everyone at the AEI–students, teachers, teaching assistants, and office staff members. Please contact me at any time for information about the curriculum or teaching methods at the AEI. In fact, I welcome any questions that you might have.
