Academic Information

What if I am on probation, disqualification, or need readmission to the university?

Admission and Readmission

To be eligible to register at Fresno State in a matriculated semester (Fall or Spring) a student must:

  1. Be a Fresno State student in good academic standing in the previous regular semester.
  2. If not attending Fresno State the previous semester, file an application for admission (when admissions are open) and pay a non-refundable, nontransferable application fee of $55 or submit an acceptable fee waiver request. If you previously attended Fresno State and were away from the University only one semester, but not enrolled elsewhere, the $55 fee is not required.
  3. Send necessary documents, meet the CSU admission requirements (refer to the CSU Admission application booklet), and be admitted by the Fresno State Admissions Office

Academic Renewal

For forgiveness of entire term, see Academic Renewal in the University Catalog or contact the Evaluations Office, Joyal Admin. Building, Room 115, 278-4076.

Academic Probation

A student will be placed on probation if either the grade-point average based on total units attempted at all colleges is below a 2.0 ("C" average) or the grade-point average based on all units attempted at Fresno State is below a "C" average. A student will continue on probation until both the overall and the Fresno State grade point average are 2.0 or better, or until he/she is disqualified under one of the provisions of the disqualification regulations.

Academic probation status does not affect a student's registration

Academic Disqualification

A student is subject to academic disqualification when the cumulative or campus grade point average in all college work attempted falls below the level listed below:

Status

Units

G.P.A.

Freshman 0-29 1.50
Sophomore 30+ 1.70
Junior 60+ 1.85
Senior 90+ 1.95
Post-Baccalaureate variable 1.95

Students placed on academic disqualification at the end of a semester must be readmitted to attend the subsequent semester.

An information letter is mailed to disqualified students when semester grades are available advising them of their options.

Students who are readmitted will be allowed to retain their registered courses. Students who are not readmitted will be administratively withdrawn from their registered classes and will need to reapply for admission when they return to the university
