Registration for
Credit by Examination

Credit by examination is designed to encourage regularly enrolled students to seek college credit in courses in which they have competence but for which credit has not been earned by the usual academic process. This permits students to accelerate their progress and provides an opportunity for wider selection of coursework.

To receive CBE credit you must complete at least an equal number of units in regular enrollment during the semester.

The following procedures should be followed

  1. Obtain a CBE approval form from the Department Office.
  2. Turn in the CBE form by February 4 to the Admissions/Records Service Windows. Do not turn in this form at the Department Office.
  3. Complete the examination by 5 p.m. Fevruarty 19. Your grade will be reported to Admissions/Records on or before Friday, March 5.
  4. If you do not pass, you may change your grading option with instructor's approval, by coming to the Admissions/Records Service Windows on or before Friday, March 5.

  • CBE units are charged for fee purposes.
  • Credit by Examination (CBE) is not available to graduate students for use on programs for the master’s degree.
  • Credit by Examination Registration is not available through Telephone/Web Registration.
