New Student Registration

Registration Process

A New Student is someone who did not attend California State University, Fresno in fall 2003.This may include returning students (who have been away for one or more semesters), transfer students, or first-time new students. Seniors who have applied to graduate in fall 2003 must reapply for admission as new graduate students in order to be eligible to register spring 2004.

  1. Always review the Class Schedule website and University Catalog online or purchase a University Catalog at the Kennel Bookstore.
  2. In early November a registration letter is mailed to all newly admitted students. This letter will provide registration and fee payment instructions. Read all registration materials carefully and follow all instructions.
  3. Plan to attend one of our New Student Orientation Sessions (Dog Days). For location and dates, see your Dog Days letter or call (559) 278-4885 for information. By attending a Dog Days session you are eligible to register the day you attend.
  4. A Schedule Planner is available to assist you with building your class schedule at new window. My Fresno State. Have your proposed class schedule ready (and selet alternative classes) prior to registration.
  5. Before your registration date, check for registration holds at new window. My Fresno State.
    1. Log in to My Fresno State.
    2. Select "Student Portfolio" in "My Menu." You may experience a delay when opening the "Student Portfolio".  The screen can take up to one minute to appear during peak processing periods. Do not click on any buttons or links while waiting for the screen to appear because this will cancel the portfolio.
    3. Select either "Holds or To Do List" to review. You will not be allowed to register until all registration holds are cleared. Click holds to learn more.
  6. Register on or anytime after your appointment day and time unless you attend a Dog Days orientation session.
  7. Pay your registration fees by December 5, 2003 at 5:00 p.m. These fees must be received on campus by mail or by using the drop box located at the Cashier Lobby (south lobby) in the Joyal Administration Building, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Be sure to allow extra time if you are sending your payment through the mail. U.S. and campus mail processing time may take as much as an additional week. If registration fees are not received by this date, your classes will be subject to cancellation!

Students who have not been admitted and registered by the fee payment deadline must pay fees within five working days after registration.
  8. Have a University KeyCard Student I.D. photo taken.
  9. Have a successful semester.
