Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) Test RequirementUndergraduate students who are subject to the 1983-84 or later campus catalog must take the Entry Level Math (ELM) test before enrolling in a course that satisfies the General Education Core Requirement in Quantitative Reasoning. Failure to take the ELM will result in the student's registration being withheld. Students should check the test schedule to assure testing will be completed in time for registration. Exemptions from the test are given only to those students who can present proof of one of the following:
Students who have not received a passing score of 50 or higher on the ELM will not be permitted to enroll in courses which meet the General Education Foundation Requirement in Quantitative Reasoning. They must record a "C" or better in a college taught Intermediate Algebra course. The Learning Resource Center and the Mathematics Department offer options for preparing for the ELM. Please note that passing a college-taught Intermediate Algebra class Fall 1988 or thereafter does NOT exempt one from the ELM. |
