Why Seek Academic Advising?
There are several advising programs to meet the individual
needs of students from preadmission requirements through to graduation.
Need an advisor but unsure who to ask? Look through the listing
on this page of campus advising resources available to you and contact
them today!
Your academic advisor will assist you with:
- Planning your class schedule
- General Education requirements
- Interpreting your Advanced Standing/Transfer and/or 90 Unit Senior
Evaluation and/or DARS Report
- Change of Major

Keeping Your Records
Fulfill your responsibility for planning your education by assembling
and keeping up-to-date an academic portfolio. Take your academic portfolio
with you to every advising appointment. Your portfolio should contain
the following kinds of information:
- A list of courses taken to show progress toward your objectives.
- Transcripts from all schools attended. If you are an undergraduate
transfer student keep a copy of Fresno State's evaluation of transfer
credit.
- 90-unit evaluation (for non-transfer students).
- Test results from entrance exams, language exams, English proficiency,
Math proficiency or placement exams and advanced placement exams.
- Copies of important communications to and from the University.

Career Services
Located in Joyal Administration Building , Room 256, career counselors
provide career counseling, facilitate job search workshops and host career
fairs.
College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP)
Located in Joyal Administration Building , Room 224, CAMP provides academic
advising, career planning, cultural enrichment, recruitment, job search,
and financial aid application assistance to university students from migrant
and seasonal farmworker families.
College of
Health and Human Services
Located in San Ramon Building , Room 26, General Education and major
advising is available for all students in Health and Human Services majors.
Craig School of Business Advising Center
Located in Undergraduate Student Services, Peters Building , Room 185,
business students are encouraged to meet with advisors for assistance
in program prerequisites, flow charts, and degree requirements.
Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
Located in Joyal Administration Building , Room 224,
EOP offers services and activities to help first-generation college students
achieve their personal and academic goals. Assistance is provided with
General Education advising, career planning, peer mentoring, learning
assistance, choosing a major, tutoring, financial aid advising and other
services which will help you experience success at the university.
Education Student
Services Center
Located in Education Building , Room 100. Liberal studies advisors
provide guidance for degree requirements and credential programs in education.
Health Careers Opportunities Program (HCOP)
Located in Science Building , Room 101, HCOP is designed to assist students
from educationally / economically disadvantaged backgrounds to prepare
for entry into health professional schools and allied health, science
and natural science graduate programs.
Health and Psychological
Services
Located in the Health Center, University Health and Psychological Services
provides outpatient clinical medical care and separately, psychological
counseling to university students.
International
Student Services and Programs
Located in Joyal Administration Building , Room 211, this office provides
academic advising and support services to international students.
Major
Advising
Located in departmental offices, students meet with their major advisor
to discuss major requirements. Some majors have advising offices.
If your major does not appear, contact your major department office.
Located in Joyal Administration Building , Room 224, OAS provides a variety
of services designed to help you achieve your educational goals and effectively
use the resources of the university. Advising Services staff will assist
you with General Education advising, undeclared major advising, special
major advising, and academic petition procedures. Staff members will discuss
possible change of major, general academic problem solving, and appropriate
referrals. You may also come to Advising Services when seeking clarification
of university academic policies and procedures.
Pre-Nursing
Advising
Located in McLane Hall, Room 188, students are given information on program
prerequisites, application procedures, and admission requirements for
the Nursing program.
Psychology
Advising Office
Located in Psychology and Human Services Building , Room 251, this office
provides academic advising for pre-psychology and psychology majors.
Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD)
Located in Henry Madden Library, Room 1049, SSD coordinates academic
support, counseling, registration assistance, blue curb parking, orientation
and acts as advocates for students with disabilities and off-campus agencies.
Athletic Academic Services
Located in North Gym, Room 199, Academic advisors assist student athletes
with NCAA eligibility requirements, academic advising, and tutorial services.
Student Support Services
(SSSP)
Located in the Lab School , Room 137, SSSP is a federal TRIO grant program
providing academic assessment, individualized instructional support, and
personal and career development skills for first-generation, low-income
and disabled students.
University Migrant Services (UMS)
If you come from a migrant seasonal farm worker background UMS services
are available to you. Located in Joyal Administration Building , Room
224, UMS provides activities, leadership development and internships to
help migrant students maximize their academic skills and support their
personal development throughout their university experience.
University Outreach Services
(UOS)
UOS provides preadmission advising and recruitment to high school
and community college students.
Women's Resource
Center
Located in the University Center Building , Room 125, this office provides
internships and volunteer opportunities, support and discussion groups,
and peer counseling and referral services for women in the university
community.
