Learning Resource Center (LRC)Located in Peter's Trailer Annex (between the Satellite Student Union and Peter's Business Building), offers a supportive learning environment, devoted to assisting students develop skills and understanding necessary to their growth as critical thinkers and independent learners. Academic skills workshops and individual consultations are available in addition to the following programs: University Tutorial Services:Drop-in tutoring is available free of charge for high demand subject areas including Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Spanish and French, and English as a second language. Additionally, we offer assistance with writing assignments at all stages of the writing process - brain-storming, organization, drafting, revising and proofreading. General Education tutors are available to assist students with their lower division courses and/or in mastering learning skills such as time management, test preparation, note taking and more. Services to faculty include facilitating student study group formation, class presentations on specific learning skills areas, as well as consultation on incorporating learning skill instruction into existing curriculum. Intensive Learning Experience Program (ILE):Provides academic advising, counseling and tutoring to freshmen scoring in the lower quartile on the EPT and/or ELM examinations. ILE works cooperatively with Departments of English, Mathematics, Linguistics, and Literacy and Early Education to support small sized classes in basic literacy courses of writing, mathematics and reading. |
