Don R. Leet

Dr. Leet has earned a reputation as one of the nation's leaders in economic education. He founded our Center for Economic Education and has been actively involved in local, statewide, national, and international economic education projects. He was a Member of the Board of the California Council on Economic Education, President of the National Association of Economic Educators, Chief Economist for the Golden State Exam, Consultant on the NSF Virtual Economics Project, and Director of the Economics Section of the CSU Institute for Teaching and Learning. He has served as an advisor on numerous projects for the National Council on Economic Education including the International Economic Education Project which led to his offering economics seminars in Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Croatia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania and Russia.

He served as Chair of the Economics Department from 1992-1996 and again from 2002-2006, and was named Outstanding Professor of the Year for 2005-2006 in the College of Social Sciences. In 2001 he won the Richter Award as the Outstanding Faculty Member Preparing Future Teachers. He has published over two dozen articles on economic history, demography and economic education in addition to authoring four books and two study guides.
