Van Nee Van Vleck
Dr. Van Vleck received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Iowa; she also holds a M.A. in economics from Columbia University in New York City. Her research emphases are in applied microeconomics, focusing on issues of labor, health and the health care sector. Dr. Van Vleck was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Public Health and Alcohol Studies, funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), at the Prevention Research Center and the Alcohol Research Group in Berkeley, California. During the fellowship, Dr. Van Vleck was mentored in the Drug and Alcohol Research Team (DART) in the Division of Research (Northern California), Kaiser Permanente in Oakland.
Dr. Van Vleck’s most recent research has focused on the adverse effects of alcohol abuse on individuals’ incomes and likelihood employment. She has also published in the area of technological networks and transportation. Having taught in a wide variety of undergraduate settings, including the University of the Pacific and the University of California-Davis, Dr. Van Vleck is now an Assistant Professor at California State University, Fresno.
