    Will my SIMS/R Password expire?

    Beginning February 12, 2001, you may receive an email informing you that your SIMS/R password will expire in 90 days from the date of the email.  When your password is scheduled to expire, you will be notified 7 days prior to the expiration AT THE TIME YOU LOG ON TO SIMS/R.  The notification will consist of an alert dialog box appearing in the middle of the log on screen with the message:  "YOUR PASSWORD WILL EXPIRE IN X DAYS.  PLEASE REQUEST SCREEN PSW AND CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD"   "X" represents the number of days until your password expires. You must click "OK" in this dialog box to remove the alert message.  If you do not change your password, you will continue to receive the message each time you log on, until you change your password or the password expires.
    If you are not a frequent user of SIMS/R, your password could expire since your last log on.  If this occurs, you will be able to log on to SIMS/R, but the alert dialog box will inform you that your password has expired.  You will see the message "YOUR PASSWORD HAS EXPIRED.  YOU MUST REQUEST SCREEN PSW AND CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD.  If you do not change your password immediately after receiving this message, you will be denied access the next time you log on to SIMS/R.
    If your password expires and you do not change it when notified, you must contact the Help Desk.

    Navigation Tips

    To view another SIMS/R screen for the same student, highlight the Screen Call Code currently displayed in the top left corner and enter the new Screen call code. Move the cursor at the end of the Term Period displayed in the PERIOD field and press F8 (Execute Query). If your cursor is on the call code when you press F8, you will get a blank screen.

    Most screens display the current term. If you want to view data for a different Term Period, you can highlight the period being displayed and enter the new. When entering the Term Period you can include the century, year and term, such as 20004, for Fall 2000, or just enter the year and term, such as 004, for Fall 2000.

    SIMS/R TERM CODES

    1 = Winter
    2 = Spring
    3 = Summer
    4 = Fall

    When you key in a Student ID, SIMS/R displays that student's name. If you have requested a screen for a student and have entered a Student ID of another student, the prior student's data remains until you press F8 (execute query). Be sure press F8 as soon as the new student's ID is entered to avoid confusion.

    To navigate through the screen, you can use the mouse to sweep and select a field, or use the tab key. Or, you can double click to select a field.

    You can go backwards by holding the shift key down and then tabbing.

    For certain screens, you can go to directly to another SIMS/R screen whose Call Code is displayed in the buttons (at the top right hand portion) of the screen. Position your cursor over the Button and SINGLE mouse click. If you double click, you will stay on the same screen you are already on.
