Beginning February 12, 2001, you may receive an email informing you that your SIMS/R password will expire in 90 days from the date of the email. When your password is scheduled to expire, you will be notified 7 days prior to the expiration AT THE TIME YOU LOG ON TO SIMS/R. The notification will consist of an alert dialog box appearing in the middle of the log on screen with the message: "YOUR PASSWORD WILL EXPIRE IN X DAYS. PLEASE REQUEST SCREEN PSW AND CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD" "X" represents the number of days until your password expires. You must click "OK" in this dialog box to remove the alert message. If you do not change your password, you will continue to receive the message each time you log on, until you change your password or the password expires.
If you are not a frequent user of SIMS/R, your password could expire since your last log on. If this occurs, you will be able to log on to SIMS/R, but the alert dialog box will inform you that your password has expired. You will see the message "YOUR PASSWORD HAS EXPIRED. YOU MUST REQUEST SCREEN PSW AND CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. If you do not change your password immediately after receiving this message, you will be denied access the next time you log on to SIMS/R.
