The Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) allows eligible cadets to gain experience working with an ARNG/USAR unit while participating in ROTC, and it allows enlisted members in the Army National Guard or U.S. Army Reserves to participate in the ROTC Advanced Course in order to earn their commission.  Under this program you will be paid at the rate of a Sergeant E-5 (Approximately $275 a month) for your Reserve or Guard service, and you'll receive the ROTC stipend allowance as well ($350 - 500 a month).  Additionally, opportunities exist to have your full tuition covered at Fresno State by being a member of the National Guard or Reserve!  As an SMP you will serve as an officer trainee in a Reserve or Guard unit and perform duties at the level with of a Second Lieutenant. After you graduate and are commissioned, you may continue your military service with your unit or apply for active duty in the U.S. Army. SMP cadets cannot be deployed while enrolled in ROTC.
