SJVMP Partnership

Goals:

Over the past years, SJVMP has enjoyed partnerships with various counties, districts, and schools in its serving area. Very often schools and school districts approach the SJVMP and CSUF Mathematics Department for professional development assistance.

Each school partnership will begin with a self-analysis of the school's progress over the last several years as pertains to their application and understanding of the California Frameworks and Standards, and performance on the SAT 9 test. They will follow the mathematical development of the content across grade levels in the Standards, examine their school/grade level success and needs as reported on the SAT-9 results, and explore the alignment of their mathematics curriculum to the Standards while identifying standards missing from their mathematics program. The SJVMP will provide support, training, and stipends for the SJVMP teacher-leaders who facilitate these sessions.

After the introductory workshop, the partnerships will continue to meet with the project faculty and teacher-leaders on the scheduled dates and times. These workshops will be content based, designed to elevate teacher understanding of the mathematics in the California Frameworks and Standards. Evaluation of the participant's elevated understanding will occur in the form of a pre-test and post-test in order to assess growth in understanding and will be conducted in an encouraging manner that will be for data purposes only. All presenters will be either established SJVMP Faculty Advisory Board members, or exemplary teacher-leader alumni of the SJVMP working directly with the Faculty Advisory Board.
