OUR HISTORY

Our Unions story begins with the gathering of individuals that where striving to build more
than a friendship but a family. This Union goes way back in time for some of its members.
For example many of us come from the same towns where we where raised together, others
met in school while attending programs such as "Summer Bridge". "Muchos de nosotros
nos conociamos, muchos ya estabamos tratando de formar una Union que nos ayudara a
encontrarnos unos a los otros," states brother Servando Puga. This search was made by
many of us, as a result we found each other and this discovery led to many friendships.
It takes lots of trust and courage to play a role in an unification of people. "My reason for
joining the frat was because I was alone in this University," employs brother Jose Grijalva as
he found comfort with our friendship. We conjoined for the same purpose. This purpose is
to become an alliance where our beliefs and emotions are the same. An organization which
will take in an individual and nurture him to become part of our Union. Within this alliance
we share ideas, beliefs, thoughts and one main thing which is togetherness. "The desire that
we are putting into this is beautiful." (Jose Grijalva) as togetherness is the main purpose of
our friendship and our brotherhood. Many individuals that are part of our group have felt
the effects of being rejected and segregated by other organizations and from society. Our
goal as a group is to reach out for those individuals and nourish their wounds by accepting
them into our federation.
"Juan Carlos Acevedo, Lupe Mendez, Juan Carlos Perez, and Manuel Garcia got together
at the student union and talked about starting a Fraternity," according to brother Jose
Avelar. They began as a club, which met on every Thursday. With time rumors where
spread about this club around campus and more individuals such as Alejandro Guillen and
Jose Avelar became interested. With time the rest of today's members joined. This gave
birth to "Club Anonimo" who's goal was to get to know each other and help the community.
Later Club Anonimo gained the interest of forming a Fraternity. Thanks to brother Ricardo
Cisneros we where introduced to San Jose's Sigma Delta Alpha. On the night of October 17,
we where pinned by the brothers of Sigma Delta Alpha. "From this point on Club Anonimo
had died and we became pledges of Sigma Delta Alpha." (Juan Carlos Perez).
"Only the strong survive" according to brother Alejandro Guillen and only those of us
which are present to this day have been able to fit this description.
