Amerasia Week celebrates in 2001

A taste of Asia is about to invade the Central Valley.
Amerasia Week will be held at Fresno State on Mar. 7 to 10.
Amerasia Week was first started in 1971 and has been an annual event ever since.
Amerasia Week is an annual celebration of diversity and culture.
It is organized by the Amerasia Club and supported by various clubs and community groups.
On Wednesday, Mar 7, the popular Hong Kong movie “and i hate you so” wiLl kick-off the start of Amerasia Week.
This movie stars Chinese pop singers Aaron Kwok and Kelly Chen.
This romantic comedy is reminiscent of “Sleepless in Seattle” and “When Harry Met Sally”.
Thursday night will be Japanese Culture Night. Nihonjinkai, the Japanese Student Association of Fresno State, will perform a collection of traditional Japanese songs.
After this performance, they will be having a screening of the movie “Shall We Dance.”
Hmong Culture Night will take place on Friday.
This is when the Hmong culture takes center stage in presenting cultural songs, dances, and other performances.
The Hmong Student Association of Fresno State organizes this night.
Finally, the Amerasia Week will conclude on Saturday with the Amerasia Festival Night.
This climax to Amerasia Week, Festival Night features a medley of different cultural performances.
This grand finale event features performances from many Asian clubs and organizations of Fresno and the Central Valley.
It is a celebration with music, dancing, and many other displays.
All the events held during Amerasia Week will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at the Fresno State Satellite Student Union.
Admission is free.
Everyone is invited to attend.
