By Hiroshi Endo APR Staff Writer APR would like to welcome one of the newest Asian clubs to Fresno State. The Japanese Student Network (JSN) was created in January 2000 as the brainchild of Mahito Tomoi. Tomoi wanted to create a club where students could get together to discuss educationally oriented problems which exchange students may encounter while studying at Fresno State. The JSN is not just limited to being a discussion group but also places high emphasis on being a place for developing friendships, contacts and mutual support. Future areas, which the JSN intend break into include finding community service projects in the Fresno area. Meetings are held on weekends where a discussion topic is chosen and then explored in depth. Members are sometimes sent to attend educational seminars; as members last July were able to attend and speak to visiting Japanese teachers giving a lecture on Japanese education. Other topics that are discussed at meetings include academic, social, and political problems. The discussions are based on member s knowledge and experiences in that topic area.
