Give your car a holiday treat with simple measures.
  The cold season is here but are you ready? The next time you get in your vehicle, remember a few preventive maintainers to prepare yourself for the long cold winter.

  1. Engine oil. Your oil should be light colored. It also should be transparent. If it's dark or sludgy then it's time for an oil change.

  2. Transmission oil. The oil should be a reddish color. If it's dark or a foul smell, than it's time for a transmission flush.

  3. Tires. The pressure should be at 36 lbs. and there shouldn't be any tire cracks along the walls of the tire.

  4. Battery's cranking power. This can be done for free at any local auto parts store.

  5. Window wipers and its operating conditions.

  6. Brakes for wears and condition.

  7. Headlights and taillights for proper operation.

  8. Air filter. If it's dirty or clogged, its recommend you change it.

  9. Antifreeze. CAUTION: Do not open the radiator cap if the car has been on for more than about 2 minutes. Hot water and steam could erupt and there could be possible burns or body damage.

  10. Mountain driving. Please have tire chains ready. The police won't let you through checkpoints without it.
