Dogs Continue to Struggle at Home

Sun. January 20, 2008

Fresno State returned home Saturday as they took on the Sac. State Hornets in a rematch of last weeks game. Unfortunately for the Dogs, the final results were not as they had hoped.

Sac. State scored early in the first with a quick pass from behind the net that caught the Defense and Goaltender off guard. The rest of the period would remain scoreless as both teams battled back and forth.

During the second period the Dogs struggled to keep consistent offensive pressure on the Hornets and found themselves scrambling for the puck in their own end. The Hornets scored three more goals before Tyler Esswein would put one past the goalie from the top of the circle to get the Dogs on the board. However, this did not spark the offense that was needed to come back as the Hornets ended the period with another pair of goals.

The third period was even with a goal on both sides. Fresno’s goal came for Senior Captain Derek Miller as he skated into the zone, took a shot on net and found his own rebound to put it in. The final score was 7-2.

The Dogs travel to San Diego this coming weekend to take on San Diego State and UC San Diego.
