Admitted Students

Congratulations on your admission to California State University, Fresno!  We are so excited that you have selected the university to pursue your higher education goals. We look forward to seeing you soon and welcoming you to the Fresno State Family. Before you begin your journey to Fresno, there are a few steps and procedures you will need to complete. We know this can be an overwhelming process, but if you follow the checklist below you will soon be ready to embark on your new and exciting journey!

Admitted Student Checklist

If you have recently received your admission letter and your I-20 (or DS-2019) document, you are ready to complete the following steps.

1.  Apply for Your U.S. Student Visa
Many U.S. Embassies/Consulates now take approximately four to six weeks to process student visas. You can obtain more detailed information about applying for your student visa by visiting our Obtaining a Visa page.

2.  Mandatory Immigration Check-In Session
New students must attend one of the check-in sessions as part of your Orientation. If you missed the check-in session, please go directly to ISSP and tell them you need to check in. 

The following documents must be presented at the time of check-in:

  • Passport with VISA and U.S. entry stamp, marked valid for duration of status by “D/S”
  • A copy of I-94 form which can be retrieved from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Website
  • I-20 or DS-2019
  • Immunization records
  • Final official transcripts and certificates of completion if they have not yet been submitted

3.  Orientation
All newly admitted students are required to attend orientation.  Please visit the Orientation Schedule for more details.  

4.  Math Placement Exam (ALEKS PPL)
For testing information please view ALEKS PPL, or contact ISSP.  

5.  Enroll in Classes
You may enroll in classes prior to arriving to Fresno via your student portal at, you will need your username and password, which you were assigned during the admission. Please review our catalog for course selection. Advisors will also be available at check-in to assist you with registering.

6.  Payment of Fees
Your tuition and registration fees will be available to view in your student center, located in the student portal. You will need your username and password, which you were assigned during the admission to log in. Please note that a bill is generated only after you register for courses.  For information on how to pay your fees, please visit Accounting Services.
