University Communications at California State University, Fresno serves the strategic communications needs of the campus. The office coordinates all internal and external University communications, working to present an accurate and substantive view of the University to a wide variety of constituents to advance the University’s goals and garner community support. Shirley Melikian Armbruster, associate vice president, oversees the office.
The Office of University Communications supports the University's academic mission by upholding campus efforts designed to encourage public, donor, community and government support of Fresno State. The flexible structure of the office ensures a team approach to communications issues.
University Communications oversees:
- All aspects of communication across the campus to ensure accurate, timely and consistent messages.
- The incorporation of communications planning in the overall planning for campus administrative and academic development to help ensure the success of critical projects.

Angel Langridge is responsible for managing support services for University Communications, including accounting and budget, human resources and event assistance. Margarita Adona maintains communications databases, contact and mailing lists, the online telephone directory and provides administrative support.

University News and Video
Kathleen Schock directs the planning, development and implementation of public relations, media communications, news and media relations and Development communications. Development communications is responsible for communications and presentations for a number of boards, and communications and marketing support for development directors and the university. The News Division provides University information and news to internal and external groups. Working closely with colleges, departments and programs, the news division prepares news releases and media advisories, and arranges news conferences. Tom Uribes serves as public information officer and works with media on a daily basis. Eddie Hughes is a writer and editor who handles press releases, media writing and Fresno State Magazine projects. Jenny Toste directs and coordinates our social media channels across campus. The office frequently uses Mass Communication and Journalism Department student-interns to provide additional support to specific projects and programs of the campus. Campus video producer/director Randy Haar and videographer Domenick Satterberg capture news and feature video for use online and in multimedia presentations. They are available for certain strategic projects. Because of the high volume of requests, you may be referred to an outside agency. Although most filming conducted by the campus videographer is free of charge to our campus clients, you (as the client) must pay outside agencies or freelancers for their services.
Publications and Community Projects
Bruce Whitworth, director of publications and community projects, oversees this unit, which is responsible for campus publishing and design, Web graphics standards, communications and content standards, promotional photography, the University catalog, the phone directory, branding standards, and production of Fresno State Magazine. He also is responsible for special outreach and communications projects for the Office of the President. The University strives to present a unified look and message. Design services for campus communications are provided by senior graphic designer Todd Graves and graphic designers Joel Beery and Adriana MacDonald. Campus photographer Cary Edmondson is the University's primary source for photographic needs, for both Web and print. His primary goal is to tell the stories of our people, their achievements and their impact within our community through compelling photographic and other visual representations.
