Caty Perez, Associate Vice President for Development oversees the various areas of University Development including Planned Giving, Corporate & Foundation Relations and the Directors of Development for the university’s schools, colleges, Madden Library and Student Affairs.

The areas within University Development are:

Corporate and Foundation Relations

Corporations and foundations are a significant source of funding for educational institutions. The director advances the university’s strategic goals by building relationships with corporations and foundations. Working closely with university leadership, deans and development colleagues, he seeks major gift support for university programs.

Directors of Development

Fresno State has a "centralized, decentralized" structure for development. One development director is assigned to each unit on campus, including the Madden Library, Student Affairs and Athletics. Their offices are located with the unit where they are assigned. Development directors report to the Associate Vice President for University Development and work closely with their respective deans to plan and execute efforts for fundraising and donor relations. (The Associate Athletic Director/Development reports to the Athletic Director and collaborates with Development.)

Development directors are responsible for the success of philanthropic fundraising for their unit and work collaboratively with Corporate and Foundation Relations, Planned Giving and Donor & Volunteer Relations/Stewardship. Oftentimes, development directors work collaboratively with each other whenever multiple units are involved with a prospect or in a project. The aim is to achieve the Comprehensive Campaign goals, which ultimately benefit faculty, staff and students.

Planned Giving

Director Steve Spriggs helps supporters of the university to create a plan to make current or future gifts beneficial to our campus and donors. Simple bequests, California State University, Fresno Foundation Charitable Gift Annuities and pooled fund donations or complicated real estate and charitable trusts are gifts of lasting impact. All Planned Giving donors are invited to the Heritage Society and its annual recognition luncheon.
