Detachment 35 Commander - Lt Col John Lussi

Lieutenant Colonel John M. Lussi is the Commander of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Detachment 35 at California State University, Fresno.  In his previous assignment at Beale AFB CA, he was the Chief of Mission Planning for the U-2 serving deployments to Al Dhafra AB UAE and RAF Akrotiri CY.  Lt Col Lussi was commissioned in 1989 at Officer Training School, Medina Annex, Randolph Air Force Base TX and went on to earn his navigator wings at Mather AFB CA in 1990.  He has served as a flight commander, branch chief, program manager, and deputy division chief in operational and staff positions in airlift, acquisitions, reconnaissance and as a Presidential Advance Agent for Air Force One.  A veteran of three operational C-130 Hercules assignments and airlift missions to over 50 countries, he is a master navigator with more than 3,600 hours in C-130E/H3 aircraft.  Lt Col Lussi holds an undergraduate degree from the Pennsylvania State University and graduate degrees from the University of Arkansas and Bowie State University.
