Dr. James H. Cothern
is a Professor of Agricultural Economics specializing in Computer Applications in Agricultural Business. Dr. Cothern received his B.S. Degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Idaho. He has a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics from Michi
gan State University and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Montana State University. A native of Idaho, he grew up in Buhl. He joined the CSUF faculty in 1989. Prior to coming to Fresno, Dr. Cothern was an extension economist at UC Davis. He is well-
known for his understanding of cattle markets and has authored a computerized farm accounting system (TurboFarm) that is widely used. He is a regular contributor to Doane's Agricultural Report and maintains an electronic bulletin board full of agricultura
l business applications. Dr. Cothern currently teaches courses in the areas of marketing
and computer applications.
