Subject: Delay in CETI Agreement

By now, you have heard through various media sources that Senior Vice Chancellor Richard West informed the legislative members present at the hearing on January 6, 1998, that the signing of an agreement for CETI would be delayed. This decision was made in a meeting immediately preceeding the Legislative Hearing.

We regret that there was not ample time to inform you of the decision prior to the hearing. At this time, we have mid-March targeted for signing. We are driving towards having the agreement on the Operating Agreement and major portions of the Master Services Agreement completed by the end of January. Thus, campus constituencies will have ample time to review the agreement.

We anticipate discussing the revised time line at the SIP Meeting on January 15 & 16 and then at the Executive Council and Board of Trustees meetings in late January.
