With so many acronyms and professional titles, you can't tell the Systemwide Internal Partnership (SIP) players without a scorecard. Since details surrounding the SIP efforts to form a public/private partnership to implement and sustain the Technology Infrastructure Initiative (TII), as part of the overall Integrated Technology Strategy (ITS), are changing rapidly and are admittedly confusing, we'd like to take this opportunity to clarify who's who on the SIP team.
Campus Representatives comprise the SIP team. Each of the 22 campus presidents named an individual to serve on this team. In addition, there are representatives from the Academic Senate and other CSU stakeholder groups. A complete listing can be found on the website listed below.
Maynard Robinson has served as the chair of SIP since its formation. Recently, he left his post as vice president for finance of CSU Stanislaus to become the general manager for the Technology Infrastructure Partnerships (TIP). As general manager, Robinson is responsible for the overall direction and implementation of TII and will work with the private sector partner to establish and ensure standards and performance levels for the services to be provided to the CSU. In addition, he will help develop other technology partnerships for the CSU, as appropriate.
David Ernst has served as executive director of the Integrated Technology Strategy (ITS) since 1995. Ernst has led the strategic planning process and coordinated communications efforts about ITS, both internally and externally. In this role he has the continuing oversight responsibility for the several ITS initiatives currently at various stages of implementation. Since the foundation of the ITS is the TII, Ernst is involved in several facets of TII. Specifically, he is responsible for communications related to the TII partnership activities.
Tom West, assistant vice chancellor of Information Resources and Technology, heads the division charged with overall systemwide planning and coordination of the information resources and technology functions for the CSU. As such, ITS and the TII are the division's current dominant foci.
All three leaders can be reached by calling the IRT office at (562) 985-9411.

COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE SEEKS CAMPUS INPUT
The SIP Communications Committee has received from campus presidents the names of campus delegates who will serve as "communications liaisons" to the SIP communications effort. In its ongoing program to provide campuses with as much information as possible, the committee will work with these liaisons to answer questions and get information out at the campus level. "One area in which we need to work harder is getting information out fast to every campus so students, faculty and staff can provide input and tell us what they want in the partnership agreement," said Ernst.
Other communications vehicles created by the SIP team include: a listserve
called ITS INSIGHTS; a 50-page booklet on the ITS available by contacting
the listserve or calling Young; an eight-page insert to the Stateline newsletter
devoted solely to the Integrated Technology Strategy and related SIP developments;
and a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) document with fact sheets. For information
on these and other developments, visit the Web address at: http://its.calstate.edu/sip.
