Ben & Jim:

This note is a followup to the recent CETI conference in which your campus participated. First of
all, let me express my personal appreciation to you and your staff for all your cooperation and
support in that effort; it was very helpful in making the program just as productive as we had hoped.

I am attaching a joint memo from Spencer Freund and Gary Adams summarizing their views on the
outcomes of the conference/visitation program, and also conveying their thanks for the gratifying
campus participation we experienced.

We are continuing to seek input to add to that already gleaned from the many hours spent with
CSU site teams over the past couple of weeks. As part of that effort, I am attaching a copy of the
notes the recorder made during the conference with your personnel; if you have further comments
or any corrections, please see that they are returned to me by Friday, December 5. As you are
aware, these notes are one important element to be used in the preparation of the high-level work
scopes and related cost estimates which must be prepared by CETI staff no later than December
15. We need your help to assure that the information is as accurate and complete as is possible
within the short timeframe available.

One particular document which remains a special focus for systemwide input is the developing
Network Infrastructure Buildout model definition. The latest version of that language is yet another
attachment to this note, as also is a request for comparison data relating the model to your specific
local infrastructure needs.

To help us in determining the scope of work and cost for the terminal (electronic) equipment we need to
request two additional items from each campus: (1) The number of data ports that currently exist within
each state owned building for your campus with a campus total; (2) The approximate number of data
ports needed to get the campus to minimum baseline. We will then use the "delta" or the "additional
ports required" along with a standard cost per data port being developed by the CETI infrastructure
team to determine the scope of work and cost. Please include your input with your December 5 response
as requested in the preceding paragraph.

Also enclosed is the current rev #8 of the Network Infrastructure Buildout modelfor your information and
use.

I am FAXing to you the current versions of the schematic illustrations associated with the model,
since those illustrations create graphics files that are a bit awkward to send by E-mail. Again, we
are asking that you submit both any comments you would like to offer on the model definition
language (which is certainly a work still in progress) and the requested comparison data by
December 5.

Thanks for any new assistance you can provide in these matters.

Best regards,

Ken Secor
