Dennis DeLiddo to Retire

Fresno State alumnus Dennis DeLiddo [1968] has announced that he is retiring as Head Wrestling Coach for the Fresno State Bulldogs after a 24 season career. He was named WAC Coach of the year four times. Under his guidance, 27 Bulldogs earned All-America honors and he coached 55 individual conference champions.

Bulldog Football Offensive Tackle, Logan Mankins [#74], was selected by “Sports Illustrated” for its All-Bowl Team in the January 10, 2005 issue. Mankins is a Senior from Catheys Valley [Calif.] and graduated from Mariposa High.

Ruben Nieves.New Volleyball Coach: Ruben Nieves
Ruben Nieves has been hired as the new head coach of the Bulldog Volleyball team. He coached at his alma mater, Stanford from 1991 to 2001 and was selected AVCA National Coach of the Year in 1997. Nieves also assisted with the 1996 U.S. Olympic Volleyball Team in Atlanta.

th annual Meet the Team Dinner last month. The 2005 Softball season marks Wrights 20th year at Fresno State.

Dan Gamals' RV Center.Dan Gamal RV Centers, one of the largest recreational vehicle company in the nation, has two new owners: Erin McIlhatton [1988] and C. Wayne Barnes [1988].

John "Jack" Hall.John "Jack" Hall [1999] is the District Director for Congressman and Fresno State alumnus Jim Costa [D-20th District]. Hall has also recently been elected President of the Big Fresno Fair. [Hall and Costa are FSAA members.]

Fresno County Courthouse cupola.Sharon Hiigel [1974], the Curator of Collections and Education Coordinator for the Fresno Historical Society, is working to restore the cupola from the old Fresno County Courthouse for permanent exhibition. Built in 1895, the courthouse was demolished in 1966.

JP Marketing.JP Marketing has several Fresno State alumni on staff: Jane Olvera-Quebe [1990], Paul Quebe, Rosie Ruiz [2000], Jeralynn Stout [1977] and Tommy Truong.

"Hats, Hats, Hats" by Benjamin Locke.Benjamin F. Locke is exhibiting in the group show titled "Hats, Hats, Hats" at the Art Box Gallery in Fresno's Tower District through February 26th.

Kenneth Newby.Kenneth Newby [1972], President of the Fresno Business Council, recently addressed the Regional Jobs Initiative meeting.

Nelina Patino and Timothy Jones. Nelina Patino [2005]  and Timothy Jones [1998]are happy to announce their marriage on January 12, 2005 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. They currently reside in Merced where she will be a school teacher and where he's a firefighter.

Tony Petrosino.Antonio "Tony" Petrosino [1953] donated Office 216: Operations Coordinator Office at the newly expanded Duncan Building. He is an FSAA member.

Chuck Poochigian.Charles "Chuck" Poochigian [1972], State Senator [R-14th District], is a candidate for Attorney General of the State of California. Poochigian was named Distinguished Alumnus at the Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala in October of 2004. He is a FSAA Life Member.

Virgil Rasmussen.Virgil Rasmussen [1940] will be honored at Ag One Foundation's 2005 Community Salute Dinner. He is a FSAA Life Member.

Lindsey Sanchez and Joshua Radcliff.Lindsey Sanchez [2000] and Joshua Radcliff are happy to announce their marriage on July 12, 2003 at the Monterey Plaza in Monterey, CA. They currently reside in San Diego, CA.

Richard Shehadey.Richard Shehadey [1965], President of Producer's Dairy, is overseeing a 36,000-square-foot construction project of its processing facility. He received the Fresno State Alumni Association's Top Dog Alumni Award on behalf of the Craig School of Business in 2003 and is a Life Member in the FSAA.

Julie Smith.Julie Smith [1991], a former Bulldog Softball player, has been named the Head Coach and General Manager of the NY/NJ Juggernaut. She had a two-year career at Fresno State in 1990 and 1991. Smith represented the U.S. with the Olympic Softball Team that captured a Gold Medal in 1996 [Atlanta].

Mani Soma.Mani Soma [1975] has been named Acting Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Washington. Dr. Soma was a double major [BA, Math and BS, Electrical Engineering] at Fresno State. He earned his Masters and Doctorate degrees at Stanford.

Jerry Tarkanian.Jerry Tarkanian [1955], the spokesperson for the San Diego-based non-profit Embrace: Racial Harmony & Equality, was recently honored for his volunteer efforts by the San Diego Gulls.

Aleta Wolfe.Aleta [Walkowiak] Wolfe [1988] has been awarded the 2004 Ambassador of the Year Award by the Clovis Chamber of Commerce.
