Brooke Tinnin.Brooke Tinnin is a third generation Fresno State Bulldog! Her parents, Lee and Debby Tinnin, and her grandmother, Florine Tinnin, all graduated from Fresno State. A junior majoring in liberal studies, Brooke has been accepted into the Early Childhood Education Credential Program. “My FSAA scholarship helps me pay for books and tuition” she said. “Thank you for helping me complete my education.” She is also a member of Alpha Delta Chi.

Christopher Rusca.Christopher Rusca comes from a Fresno State Bulldog family! Chris’ father, Rodney Rusca, Sr.; and sister, Tracy, graduated from Fresno State. His brother, Rodney Rusca, Jr., is also a senior attending Fresno State. Chris, a junior majoring in accounting, is a Craig Scholar, a member of Sigma Chi and was elected as a senator-at-large with the Associated Students. “The FSAA is helping pay for my books this semester,” he said. “Thank you for selecting me for this scholarship.”

Hispanic Outlook.Top 100 for Hispanic Grads
Fresno State is listed in the May issue of “Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education” as one of the Top 100 colleges and universities that conferred the most bachelor’s degrees upon Hispanics, according to the latest report by the National center for Education Statistics. Eighteen of the 23 California State University campuses made this list, with Fresno State ranking No. 17. For master’s degrees, Fresno State ranked No. 53 nationwide.

Fresno State professor Carol Fry Bohlin was honored by the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics as the winner of the license plate contest. Bohlin’s plates read “Math2Go.”

Softball standout, Jamie Southern [2005], has been named 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America University Division Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. She was a member of the Dean’s List six times and has been a four-time
Fresno State and WAC Scholar Athlete, as well as a three-time WAC All-Academic selection.

Fresno State Track and Field members Chris Berrian, Russell Weaver [pictured], Mallory Webb and Katie Christianson have been awarded spots at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held June 8 to 11 in Sacramento.

Michael Watney [1974], the Head Coach for Fresno State Men's Golf Team, is featured in the May/June 2005 issue of HIS Magazine. He's a FSAA member. 

Coach Gerry Abas.Wrestling Recruits for 2005-06 Season
Fresno State Wrestling has received letters of intent from four recruits Cory Borges, Eugene Yasatomi, Dustin Rocha and Paul Ruiz. Assistant Coach Gerry Abas [2000] is credited with signing these new Bulldog grapplers. Abas is a FSAA member.

Children's Musical Theaterworks.Joel Abels [1996] has been presented a Horizon Award by the Fresno Arts Council. He is the Founding Director of Children's Musical Theaterworks.

Panagraph.Mark Astone [1988] is the new, sole owner of Panagraph, Inc. He and his wife, Deborah [Adishian] [1994] are FSAA Life Members.

Centex.Kristine Ballecer [1993, 1996] is the Marketing Manager for Central Valley Operations at Centex Corporation. 

KFCF 88.1 FM Radio.Victor Bedoian is the Executive Director of KFCF Radio, 88.1 FM, a non-profit radio station based in Fresno. 

Jim Boren.James V. Boren, Jr. [1972] has been named the recipient of the 2005 Jim Tucker Journalism Award, presented by the Mass Communication and Journalism Department. Boren is the Editorial Page Editor of "The Fresno Bee" and a member of the FSAA.

Holy Cross Abbey Winery.Matthew Cookson [1986] is the Winemaker for Holy Cross Abbey Winery located in Colorado.

Boy Scouts of America.Sidney Cox [1952] has been honored by the Boys Scouts of America, Inc., Sequoia Council, for his outstanding service to Scouting, youth and the community. He has given more than 40 years of public service to the Boy Scouts. 

Jefferson Awards for Public Service.Doug Davidian [1974], Kenneth Fransen, Coke Hallowell [1957] and Kenneth Newby [1972] have been honored as Jefferson Award recipients. Founded in 1972, the Jefferson Award for Public Service recognizes outstanding Americans. Media partner KGPE 47 [CBS] is the local media partner. Hallowell is also a FSAA member

Neil Gibson.Neil Gibson [2005] was named the President's Medalist for the Class of 2005-- the highest honor given to a graduating student-- presented by California State University President John D. Welty. Gibson, a Smittcamp Family Honor College Scholar, Kenneth L. Maddy Scholar and former Associated Students' President, is a FSAA member.

GNC.lly Graham [2005] has been honored as a 2004 National Finalist Pro Performer at the annual GNC Franchise Convention. She manages the General Nutrition Center at River Park in Fresno.

Central California Excellence in Business Award.Richard Heath [1968], Kathy Millison, Richard Wathen, Jr. [1979] and Kevin Castanos [1987] have been selected as recipients of the 10th Annual 2005 Central California Excellence in Business Awards, sponsored by "The Fresno Bee." The awards will be presented at a luncheon to be held on June 22nd.

What time do I work?Matthew Iknoian [1999] has founded "What time do I work.com," an online employee scheduling service.

Marc Ormsby and Jesie Lewis.Jesie Lewis [2002] and Marc Ormsby are engaged to be married on July 23, 2005 in Juneau.

Laurel May.Laurel May [1994, 2005] was awarded the Graduate Medal as the outstanding graduate degree student from the Class of 2005 by California State University, Fresno. 

"The Magic of Bewitched" by Gina Meyers.Gina [Hill] Meyers [1994], author of "The Magic of Bewitched: Triva and More Book," will sign copies of her book on June 25th at Edwards Cinemas located at River Park in Fresno.

David Nangle.David J. Nangle [1990] has been appointed President of J.W. Harris Co, Inc., a division of Lincoln Electric Holdings, Inc., based in Cleveland, OH.

Janes Addams statue proposal by Claudia Nolan.Claudia Nolan [2003] has been selected to craft a statue honoring the late peace advocate Jane Addams, the first woman to be honored at Fresno State's Peace Garden.

Norine Oliver.Norine Oliver [1990] was posthumously given the Alumna of the Year Award for Distinction at the West Hills College Coalinga graduation ceremony.

ESPN 1430 AM Radio.Christopher Pacheco [1985], his brother Tony Pacheco and James Huelskamp [1986] are the new owners of ESPN Radio 1430 AM. Chris is a FSAA member. 

Deena Papagni.Deena [Elhag] Papagni [1994] owns and operates Touch of Class Limousine Service in Fresno.

Quad Knopf.Stephen Peck [1973] has been elected to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Quad Knopf. 

Community Food Bank.Sarah Reyes [1985] has been named Executive Director of the Community Food Bank in Fresno. She is a former California legislator.

Addy Award in Recognition of Creative Excellence.Greg Richburg, President of Netricks and Founder of Valley411.com, has won a 2005 Central California Addy Award presented by the Fresno Advertising Federation for newly designed Kiddie Kare website. He is a FSAA member.  

Tim Rios.Ultiminio "Tim" Rios [1993] has been selected to receive the Central California Financial Services Champion of the Year Award, presented by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Tierre Sams.Tierre Sams [2001] has been assigned to the Central California Coyotes. He most recently played for the Ottawa Renegades of the Canadian Football League.

Joe Schey and Brandon Molale.Joe Schey [2002] and Brandon Molale [1996] appear in the new film "The Longest Yard," starring Adam Sandler and Burt Reynolds. Both Joe and Brandon, former Fresno State Bulldog Football players, are FSAA members.

Matua Valley Wines.Ross Spence co-founded Matua Valley Wines in West Auckland, New Zealand with his brother, Bill. Ross is a Fresno State alumnus.
