Bulldog Wins Pfizer Research Fellowship
Undergraduate student Felix Perez is one of five students selected statewide to win a $5,000 Summer Research Fellowship in Organic Chemistry from the Global Research and Development Center provided by Pfizer, Inc.

Fresno State Joins Consortium for International Development
The newly-formed CSU Consortium for International Development includes campuses from Fresno, Chico, Humboldt, Pomona and San Luis Obispo and will focus on working to improve public safety and health in the developing world and foster consumer sensitive and environmentally sound food and agriculture systems worldwide.

College of Engineering Update

Lora-Lee [Edwards] Bell [1948] has two one-woman exhibitions of her art works schedule for 2005 in Connecticut. She and her husband, Wendell Bell [1948] are FSAA Life Members.

Edgar Blunt [1998] has been promoted to Vice President at Denham Personnel in Fresno. 

The Central California Institute has several fellows that are Fresno State alumni: Gail Abbott, Lloyd Carter [1982], Nicholas J. deGraff, Raymond Ensher [1956], Bryan Jessup, Vincent Lavery, Richard Martinez, Jr., Stephen Sacks, and Pam Whalen [1982]. Ensher and Jessup are FSAA members.

Tish Cooper has been hired as the new Assistant Winemaker at Joseph Filippi Winery & Vineyards in Rancho Cucamonga.

Dwayne Crump owns and operated Crump's, a clothing store in Fresno.

Jennifer B. Emerzian [1997, 2000] and her business partner, Ami Zinkin, have opened She She, a boutique at Riverview in Fresno. 

Raymond Ensher [1956], a former educator at Sanger High and North Fork Union, was showcased in "The Fresno Bee" on July 4th for portraying a patriotic Uncle Sam. He is an FSAA Life Member. 

Daniel Fernandez is a clown with Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus, "The Greatest Show on Earth." 

Janet [Heintz] Funk [1964] is the Principal of William Halley Elementary Schoold in Burke, VA. She has been recognized as Fairfax County Principal of the Year, The Washington Post Distinguished Educator Award winner, and the Virginia Assocation of Elemntary School Bell Award winner. She and her husband, Ken Funk [1964] are FSAA Members.

Tasha [Mody] Huljev recently donated two outdoor tables with her original mosaic designs to the Master Gardeners' Garden of the Sun, located at the Discovery Center in Fresno.

Daren Jonson is showcasing a retrospect of his artwork at the Sierra Nut House located in the Villaggio Shopping Center in Fresno.

Martin "Marty" Kamimoto [2002] was recently profiled in "The Fresno Bee" as being one of 12 General Motors Automotive Service Education Programs instructor nationwide with "world-class technician" status. 

Paul Lockman [1972] has retired from Columbia College in Sonora, CA after a 24 year career.

Skip Longfellow [1993] was the First Assistant Sound Editor for "Fantastic 4" [2005] released by 20th Century/Fox. 

Kim Maher [1996] has been selected as the Head Coach for Purdue Softball. Maher is a U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist in Softball [Atlanta, 1996]. 

Gaylon McSmith is the Science Manager for the 2001 Mars Odyssey mission, a joint project of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology and NASA.

Gerald Neufeld [1978] is the Executive Director of The Discovery Center in Fresno. 

Dennis Perkins is the President and CEO of The Brownie Baker, Inc. in Fresno. 

Brian Poindexter [a.k.a. "Dexter the Magician"] is featured in the new A&E series "Criss Angel Mindfreak."

James Probert was recently named Grand Marshall of Chief Joseph Days in Wallowa County in Oregon.

Amy Rocha [1998] has been named a District Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service by the USDA. in Jackson, CA. 

Gail "G.S." Rowe [1959] has written his third book, "Double Play in Beantown," published by Pocol Press. His other books are "Best Bet in Beantown" [2003] and "Squeeze Play in Beantown" [2004].

John Segale [1983] has founded Precision Public Relations in the greater Sacramento area.  

Sing! A Musical Revue, a benefit UCP of Central California on August 16, 2005; will feature performances by Fresno State alumni: Eric Estep [1991], Heidi Doyle [1991, 1993], Nate Butler [1971], plus Katie [Rhea] [1995]and Terry Lewis. The Lewis’ are FSAA members.

Earl Smittcamp [1939] and his wife, Muriel [1940] were recently profiled in "The Fresno Bee" in an article titled "Earl of the Valley." Both are FSAA Life Members. The Smittcamp Alumni House is named for the Smittcamp Family.

Angelo Stalis [1970] was recently profiled in the Spotlight Section of "The Fresno Bee." He has been the weather forecaster at KFSN Channel 30 [ABC] in Fresno for the past 28 years. 

Michael Valles [1998] owns and operates Interior Illusions in Los Angeles.

Adam Van Dusen [2004], a US Army lieutenant assigned to Fort Story, VA, has been named the top Army ROTC graduate in the nation. Van Dusen was selected as the President’s Medalist representing the Class of 2004 by President John D. Welty.
