Save Mart Center. The Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to FSAA Life Member Richard Houghten [BS ‘68] by Fresno State President John D. Welty. Additionally, the FSAA awarded $85,000 in student scholarships that evening.

James Hallowell [1955] and his wife, Coke have recently established this new endowed professorship in the Department of English, which is currently held by acclaimed writer Steve Yarbrough [pictured]. The California State University conferred honorary doctoral degrees on the Hallowell’s with the Class 2000; the Fresno State Alumni Association honored Coke Hallowell [1957] at the 2004 Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala. The Hallowell's are FSAA members.

Graduate student and artist
Claudia Nolan [2003] life-sized statue of Jane Addams is nearing completion. Currently sculpted in clay, the statue will be cast in bronze by Arizona Bronze Atelier for installation in the Peace Garden at Fresno State next spring. The Addams' statue will join monuments of Mahatma Gandhi, Cesar Chavez and Martin Luther King, Jr. | [Online].

Fresno State Emeritus Professor Vincent Petrucci has been honored with an award for his book, “A Treatise on Raisin Production, Processing and Marketing” by the

Fresno State Softball Head Coach Margie Wright was inducted into the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame, the third softball individual to be inducted. At Fresno State for the past 21 years, she also coached the Gold medal winning U.S. Olympic Softball Team in Atlanta in 1996, the inaugural year of softball as an Olympic sport.
