A graduate student, Argelia Lara is completing her MS degree in counseling. She is attending Fresno State with her younger sister, Carmen, and they are from Wasco, CA. Argelia is a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, received a Graduate Equity Fellowship and was named an Outstanding Graduate Student last year. “The FSSA scholarship and support will assist me in succeeding,” she says. “Thank you so much.” Argelia will pursue a doctoral program in educational policy.

Jeffery A. Campbell [June 11, 1961 - June 29, 2004]. A member of Phi Theta Kappa and National Honor Societies, he maintained a 4.0 GPA while at Fresno State. Jeff had also been named to the Dean’s List, was studying business administration with an international option and was a FSAA student member.

Andrea Bocelli’s Stunning SRO Return to Fresno State
The world-renown tenor, Andrea Bocelli, returned to the Save Mart Center for an encore, standing room only performance along with a supporting cast of 175 musicians and dancers. “Bocelli, backed by a glittering wreath and six lighted Christmas trees… summoned much of the evening's holiday spirit. Bulldog APR Scores
The NCAA has reported that Fresno State's Academic Progress Rate [APR] scored for the 2004-05 academic year have improved 21 points from 939 to 960 for the football team. Already ranked No. 1 in the WAC for APR scores, Fresno State ranks No. 9 nationally for 2005 College Football Teams. Fresno State football players with academic honors wear this patch on their jerseys.

Gerard "Gerry" Abas [2000] is the co-head wrestling club coach at Fresno Pacific University. He is a FSAA member. 

Jeffrey Atmajian [1983], an orchestrator and composer for the new film, "King Kong," was recently featured on soundtrack.net's "ScoreMaker Profile." Based in the Los Angeles-area, Atmajian is a FSAA member.

Milton Barbis is President of the The Village at Granite Park in Fresno and Director of Operations for the Granite Park Kids' Foundation.

Shannon Bickford [1984], Peggy [Hendrick] Jelmini [1976], Mildred [Irwin] Pepper [1953] and Joyce [Tanimoto] Tuck have their artwork featured in the 2006 Central California Blood Center calendar. 

Albert Cano [1994] was recently named employee of the month at KMPH 26 [Fox] in Fresno. He's also celebrating his 10^th year with the company. 

Jeffrey "Jeff" Cohn [1996] is the vice president of winemaking and production for Rosenblum Cellers. It had two wines ranked in the "Top 100" by "Wine Spectator": No. 3- Rosenblum Zinfandel Rockpile, Rockpile Road Vineyard 2003; and No. 30- Rosenblum Zinfandel, Paso Robles, Richard Sauret Vineyards 2003.

Kris Curran [1996], winemaker for Sea Smoke Cellars, was named one of the "Winemakers of the Year" by "The San Francisco Chronicle" for 2005. Also, "Wine Spectator" ranked Sea Smoke Pinot Noir Santa Rita Hills Botella 2003 as No. 50 of the "Top 100" wines of 2005.

Michael Emo [2003] and Michael Oswald, Jr. [2005] have formed EmoCreat!ve which is based in Madera. 

Jon Engelskirger is a Fresno State alumnus and winemaker for Turnbull Wine Cellars. Turnbull's Cabaret Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2002 was ranked No. 76 on the "Top 100" list recently by "Wine Spectator."  

Kristine [Jensen] Enzenbacher was the interior designer for The Salon at Fig Garden Village in Fresno.

Bradley Fitzhenry [1988] designed the recently-installed colorful banners depicting the Tower Theatre's spire in Fresno's historic Tower District.

Paul Gendron [1993], an ordained Presbyterian minister, has launched Workplace Chaplaincy, a Visalia-based company providing emotional and spiritual support for area employees.

Lynne [Enders] Glaser [1965] has launched a card line of nature-oriented photographs, which are available at Not Just Paper in Fig Garden Village and the Fresno Art Museum in Fresno. She is a FSAA member.

L. Earl Grizzell [1974] of Grizzell Productions has released the compact disc, "Red Wave Music," which contains "Bulldog Power," "Red Wave Breakdown," and three different versions of Fresno State's "Alma Mater." The CD is available at The Bulldog Shop or e-mail Earl for details. A portion of the proceeds benefit The Bulldog Foundation.

Casey Hammond [1994] was the first Fresno State Bulldog to make a purchase online at the Alma Mater Pro Shop! He is a FSAA Life member and a portion of the proceeds from each purchase benefit the FSAA.

E. Scott Horsfall [1994] is the CEO for the Buy California Marketing Agreement which is based in Sacramento and well-known for its "California Grown" campaign. 

Margaret Hudson [1990] and Ara "Corky" Normart [1953] have their artwork featured in the Saint Agnes Medical Center 2006 calendar

Travis Huff [2005] has been hired as an account executive for KFSN-TV, Channel 30 [ABC] in Fresno.

Bill Jones [1971], former California secretary of state, is the founder of Pacific Ethanol. Software mogul Bill Gates recently invested $84 million with the Fresno startup company. Jones is a FSAA Life member.

Keith Jones [1994], a CPA, has been appointed Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for PDF Solutions, Inc. which is based in San Jose, Calif.

Emily [Blake] Kuroda [1977] has just completed her fifth year as Mrs. Kim in Warner Brothers' "Gilmore Girls." She also appears with Steve Martin in the recently-released "Shop Girl."

Paul Kuroda [1976] is a free-lance photographer based in the San Francisco area. He owns and operates bubblegumstock.com, an online stock photo company.  

Lanny Larson, a Fresno State alumnus, has been hired as the Senior Writer and Editor with the Office of University Communications at Fresno State. His wife, Lynne Rodriguez, is also a Fresno State alumna. A FSAA member, Lanny worked at "The Fresno Bee" for 33 years.

Pauline Larwood of Bakersfield and a Fresno State alumna, serves on the California Community Colleges Board of Governors.

Donald Liu [1980], an Associate Professor of Applied Economics at the University of Minnesota, uses the "clicker system" in his microeconomics class of more than 100 students. Students use clickers and provide instant feedback on whether or not they understand what's being taught, much like the "instant" voting devices used on the live finales of "American Idol."

Kristy Melikian [2002] was recently featured in "The Fresno Bee" for her position as a personal shopper at Macy's, Fashion Fair in Fresno. 

Frankie Moore [1980] is the new Coordinator of Student Activities for Riverside Community College District, Moreno Valley Campus. She is a FSAA Life member.

Janice Noga [1980] reprises her title role in "Janka" at the Fresno Art Museum on January 28, 2006. The one-woman production is the intimate story about the will to survive the Holocaust and the desire to experience the American dream. "Janka" is written by her husband, Oscar Speace [1971]. They are FSAA members.

Mary Jane Papadopoulos [1987], a CPA, is the new CFO for Dantel, Inc. in Fresno. 

Jerry Prieto [1974] is the official sealer for Weights and Measures of 7,883 retail fuel pumps throughout Fresno County. Next time you're at the pump, look for the 2006 blue seal!

Elmer "Bud" Richter, a FSAA Life member, has been selected as the recipient of the 2006 Leon S. Peters award. The award will be presented by the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon on February 23, 2006 at the Fresno Convention Center. Bud Richter, and his wife Jan Richter, were recently awarded the Arthur Safstrom Service Award, presented by the Fresno State Alumni Association at the Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala held at the Save Mart Center on October 15, 2005.

Burt Rutan, who attended Fresno State for one semester in 1961, was recently featured for the third time on the CBS program, "60 Minutes." Rutan is the founder of Scaled Composites, an aerospace and specialty composites development company that built the privately-funded "Space ShipOne" which successfully flew into space twice within 14 days and won the $10 million "Anzari X-Prize" in 2004.

E. Peter Seghesio [1986] is the general manager for Seghesio Family Vineyards. Seghesio's Zinfandel, Sonoma County, Somoma 2003 was ranked #78 by "Wine Spectator" as one of the "Top 100" wines. 

Curtis Shamlin [1993], vice principal of Greenberg Elementary School in Fresno, is also the lead singer for the band Speakers for the Dead. The band recently signed with Magna Carta record company in New York and plan on releasing a new album in March of 2006.

Jamie Southern [2005] has been named an NCAA Top VIII Award winner. The former Fresno State softball All-American was also the WAC Female Athlete of the Year in 2005. 

James Spinetta [1993] won the annual Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet which was recently held at the 2005 California Farm Bureau Federation's Annual Meeting.

Ashley [Newton] Swearengin [1994] has been named Executive Director of the Office of Community and Economic Development. She has served as the Interim Director for the past five years.

Sevag Tateosian [2004] is the staff assistant for Fresno City Councilmember Tom Boyajian [1966], who represents District One.

Chloe Tatro [2004] has been hired as a research aide for the Fresno County Workforce Investment Board.  

Armando H. Torres [1992] has a solo digital photography exhibit titled "Hamlet Lung: the Proletarian Collection" January 5 - 29, 2006 at Gallery 25 in Fresno.

Nicolas "Nick" Watney [2003] has earned his PGA 2006 tour card. He was an All-American golfer at Fresno State.
