Barbara Ainsworth
[1974] was recently featured in "SDSU Universe," an online magazine for
San Diego State University. A professor of exercise and nutritional
sciences, she holds a BA from Fresno State, as well as an MA, PhD and MPH
from the University of Minnesota.

The Caglia family
recently hosted “An Old Fashioned Sunday Matinee,” a benefit and live
taping for Valley Public Television
at the
Warnors Center for the
Performing Arts.

Howser is the host of popular 13-years running “California’s Gold”
television series and Warnors, owned by the Caglia's,

Mervyn "Merv" Carter
[1960] has been honored by the California Coaches Association with the
William Rockwell Distinguished Service Award for improving athletics in
California. A former 20-year baseball coach at McLane High [Fresno], he
was a member of the 1959 Fresno State baseball team that reached the
College World Series.
S. Matthew Cunningham
[1993], pictured with his partner, Patricio Camacho, was the winner of two
complimentary tickets to see Madonna at the recent sold-out performance at
the Save Mart Center. The tickets, randomly selected from respondents to a
recent online questionnaire, were provided to the
FSAA
by President John
D. Welty.
Paul Dolan
[1977] has been selected Chairman of the Board for the U.S. Wine
Institute. He is a partner with the Mendocino Wine Company.
J ames I. Finley
[1974] has been appointed Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for
Acquisition and Technology, U.S. Department of Defense. He was recently
awarded an Honorary Doctorate from his undergraduate alma mater, Milwaukee
School of Engineering.
The Fresno
Regional Foundation has named three Fresno State alumni to its board:
James Hallowell [1955],
John E. Horstmann [1958] and
Donald Schaffer [1960]. All are
FSAA members.
Chiang Chen Fun
[1987] has become a technology committee member of China Oral Care
Industry Association and a managing director of Cheery Pack [Qingdao] Co.,
Ltd.
Pamela [Elam] Geisel
[1983] has been promoted to as the statewide coordinator of the Master
Gardeners program. She established the Fresno County Master Gardener
program in 1981.
Janelle Grunberg
[1993] has won the Fashion Fair Mall's Apple Pie Baking Contest which was
held recently in Fresno.
Janine Hults
[1994] has received the Angel Award from the Fresno County Volunteer
Center. She has taught Braille at the Valley Center for the Blind and
volunteers for Campus Bible Church, as well as for Joni [Eareckson Tada]
and Friends.
Ryan Jacobsen
[2002, 2004] has been promoted to serve as the new executive director of
the Fresno County Farm Bureau. The fourth generation farmer was formerly
the farm bureau's issues and membership coordinator. As a student,
Jacobsen served two terms as Associated Students' President. He is an
FSAA
Life member.
Skip Longfellow
[1993] was the First Assistant Sound Editor for the movie, "The Omen."
Additional recent films include "Just My Luck" and "Big Momma's House 2."
Peter
"Pete" Mehas
[1962] is retiring as Superintendent of Fresno County Schools. A
celebration, in his honors, will be held on
July 29, 2006
at the Fresno Exhibit Hall. Proceeds benefit the endowment for the Peter
G. Mehas Professorship in Educational Leadership and Policy at California
State University, Fresno. An
FSAA Life member,
he was named Distinguished Alumnus by the
FSAA in 2002.
Alicia [Patton] Montoya
[2004] and her husband,
Peter Montoya
[2003] recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
Janice Noga
[1980] reprises the lead role in "Janka," a play by her husband,
Oscar Speace
[1971], at the 2nd Space Theatre [Fresno] on July 18 and 19, as well as
July 25 and 25. Noga and Speace,
FSAA members, are preparing to produce "Janka" at The
Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.

Barbara Kaye Patton,
EMBA, BSN, RN, Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations, The Camden
Group, has been appointed to serve on the Graduate Nursing Advisory Board
of Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, Calif.
Mary Piona
operates her family fruit stand in Selma, Calif. She recently appeared in
Good Company Players' production of "The Women" at the
2nd Space Theatre
in Fresno.
Bryan E. Raya
[2004] has been selected as the U.S. Army Pacific Soldier of the Year for
2006, one of only 11 soldiers in the nation to receive this honor. A
member of the Bulldog Marching Band as a student, Specialist Raya is an
FSAA member.
Jamie Southern
[2005] has further solidified her status as a marquis Fastpitch star by
signing an exclusive contract with Wilson Sporting Goods.
Greg Stach
[1992] has been re-hired to the new position of Assistant Winemaker at
Landmark Vineyards.
Ramon Ventura
[2003] is an office sales associate at Grubb & Ellis, Pearson Commercial
in Fresno.
Billy Volek
[#7] who had a standout career at Fresno State and signed as free-agent
contract with the Tennessee Titans in 2000, has a good shot to be the
Titans' quarterback starter this season.
