An agricultural communications major from Easton, she’s a FSAA student scholarship recipient and also a member of the Smittcamp Family Honors College. “I’m very thankful for the countless of opportunities that have come my way while attending Fresno State,” she said. “Fresno State’s alumni members are the foundation to the success of so many students, including myself. Thank you for your generosity.”

A civil engineering major, he’s also the third brother from his Modesto-area family to attend Fresno State. “I dearly appreciate this kindness,” says Jared. “I promise to work hard with my studies to make you proud!”

Justin and Megan Beard celebrated their first wedding anniversary on June 4, 2006. They are both Fresno State alumni.

Sandra Bryan and Javier Ventura Lopez.Sandra Bryant [2001] and Javier Ventura Lopez were married on July 29, 2006.

Joseph Burke. [Photo by The Fresno Bee].Joseph Burke [1997] has founded Shuttlebugz, a pedicab service in downtown Fresno. It operates a seven cyclist-driven fleet.

Adrian John Castelo.Adrian John Castelo [2002] is an artist that creates high-fire and Raku-fired ceramics. His striking works represent hand-constructed fish, vases and teapots.

"Twist in Time" by William Coate.William Coate [1984] has had his book, "Twist in Time: History's Mysteries Revealed," recently published.

Leanne Dodderer and David Polanco.Leanne Dodderer [2005] and David Polanco are engaged to be married on March 31, 2007. 

James Efird and Bob Schiebelhut.James Efird [1972], pictured left with Bob Schiebelhut, are managing partners of Courtside Cellars in San Miguel and Tolosa Winery in San Luis Obispo.

Molly Fagundes at The White House, Washington, DC.Molly Fagundes [2005] has been hired as the assistant director of development for the Craig School of Business at Fresno state. The Dean's Medalist for Student Affairs, she served as the Associated Students' President for 2004-05. She is an FSAA member.

Anthony Forestiere.Anthony Forestiere [1990], a CPA, has been elected President of the Fresno Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants for 2006-07.

Matt Garza, Rochester Red Wings/Minnesota Twins.Matt Garza was featured in "The Fresno Bee" as "one of the minor league baseball's hottest pitching prospects." The former Bulldog is currently signed with the Rochester Red Wings, affiliated with the Minnesota Twins.

Brent Hansen at the Craig School of Business Awards Ceremony.Brent Hansen [2006] has been hired as the project coordinator for the Fresno State Association. He's in charge of coordinating marketing efforts for the auxiliary services of Fresno State. He is an FSAA member.

Coral [Webb] Hansen.Coral [Webb] Hansen [1991], a CPA, has been elected President of the Bakersfield Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants for 2006-07.

Amanda Holder.Amanda Holder [1999] recently returned to Fresno from Chicago and accepted the position of Director of Sales and Marketing with IMG Worldwide for the newest addition to the PGA TOUR, the Running Horse Golf Championship. She is an FSAA Life member

Oscar Speace and Janice Noga, The Janka Project. [Photo by The Fresno Bee].Janka Project: Janice Noga [1971, 1981] and Oscar Speace [1971] are producing and presenting “Janka” at the 2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the world’s largest festival of the arts Aug. 14-26 at St. Cuthbert’s Parish Church. They are FSAA members.

Doug King, the Fresno Flames.Doug King [1987] is a member of the Fresno Flames volleyball team. He and the team were recently featured in "The Fresno Bee" for competing in the international Gay Games VII held in Chicago. 

Sally Lyon. [Photo by The Fresno Bee].Sally Lyon was recently featured in "The Fresno Bee" for opening ModernFolk Furniture, which specializes in handmade furniture. She attended Fresno State for two years, but graduated from San Francisco State.

Mechaela Mathis.Michaela Mathis [2004] is currently interning in the Broadmare Division of Juddmonte Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. As a student, she was a member of the Equestrian Team.

Thomas McGurn.Thomas O. McGurn [1969] has been selected Chair of the Ramapo College Foundation Board of Governors in Mahwah, New Jersey. McGurn is the General Manager of Retail and Industry Relations for BMW of North American, LLC.

Larry Powell.Larry L. Powell [1971], the former chief of the Central Unified School District, has been elected the new Superintendent of Schools for the Fresno County Office of Education.

Vanessa Reed and Andrew Smith.Vanessa Reed [2004] and Andrew Smith [2002] were married on May 21, 2006.

Jennifer Reimer.Jennifer Reimer [2002], the former president of the Associated Students and the former chair of the California State Student Association's Board of Directors has been appointed a California State University student trustee by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. She is an FSAA member.

Araxi "Roxy" Richburg, tickled pink!Brian and Moe Richburg have announced the birth of their daughter, Araxi Raquel Richburg, born March 23, 2006. Big sister Sasha is "tickled pink" to have a little sister.

Sandy "Spin" Slade.Sandy "Spin" Slade [1986] is the subject of the documentary, "Sandy 'Spin' Slade: Beyond Basketball" [2006], by Lorre Fritchy. Using basketball to relate personal stories of doubt, determination and triumph, Slade inspires millions at halftimes, assemblies and special events.

"Baby Haiku" by Lily Wang.Lily Wang [2000] is the author of "Baby Haiku," a collection of reader-friendly Zen poems celebrating love, life and children.

Nick Watney. [Photo by Associated Press].Nicolas Watney [2003] earned $101,828.57 in a seven-way finish for ninth at the recent Buick Championship in Cromwell, Conn. In 17 tournaments this year, he's earned enough to stand 72nd on the PGA Tour money list with $715,944.

Jeff Weaver.Jeff Weaver is now pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals. Most recently, he was with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Woodward Park Shakespeare Festival.Woodward Shakespeare Festival: Three Fresno State alumni are serving on the Board of Directors for festival this season— Jaguar Bennett [1992], operations director/secretary; Hal H. Bolen II 1973], development and financial manager; and S. Eric Day [2003], managing director. The Woodward Park Shakespeare Festival presents “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” through Aug. 12; and “Macbeth” will be presented Aug. 24 through Sept. 16.
