In the past decade, more than $500,000 has been donated to students. The FSAA allocates 10% of annual membership fees to a Student Scholarship Endowment Fund. The FSAA ranks No. 1 out of the alumni associations on the 23 campuses of the CSU system with student scholarship giving!

Community and Fresno State benefactors for more than 60 years, Bud and Jan Richter have been named co-chairs of the "Campaign for Fresno State" for the next two years, President John D. Welty has announced. The longtime Fresno State supporters have established the Richter Awards of Excellence for the Kremen School of Education and Human Development, were honored with the Bulldog Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, and were named the recipient of the Arthur Safstrom Award at the FSAA's Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala in 2005. The Richter's are FSAA Life members. [Online]

Dr. Luis F. Costa, Dean Emeritus, College of Arts and Humanities.In Memoriam: Dr. Luis F. Costa
Dr.
Luis F. Costa, dean emeritus of the College of Arts and Humanities, passed away Aug. 26, 2006. A Fresno State alumnus, he was dean of the college from 1990 to 2004 where he founded University High School and was instrumental in bringing the CSU Summer Arts program to the Fresno State campus.  A memorial celebrating Costa’s contributions to Fresno State will be held Sept. 7 at 5 p.m. in the Concert Hall. Additionally, the Luis Costa Scholarship Endowment has been established at Fresno State. To donate, please call [559] 278-4036.

Demolition of the north and oldest wing of the Henry Madden Library has begun with construction of a new $95 million library to begin soon. With more than one million books, the new library is slated to open during the Fall semester of 2008.

Fresno State alumnus
Emil Milevoj [1998, 2001] has been named the new director of the University Business Center at Fresno State. He had been acting director since January and worked closely with the Agriculture Lending Institute. A native of Croatia, Milevoj was named the Graduate Dean’s Medalist for the Craig School of Business for the Class of 2001.

Lynne Ashbeck.Lynne Ashbeck [1977] has been named Regional Vice President of the Central Valley by the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California.

Ronald Avedesian.Ronald A. Avedisian [1978, 1983] has been elected First Vice President of the American Institute of Parliamentarians. He is an FSAA Life Member.

Wendall and Lora-Lee [Edwards] Bell.Wendell Bell [1948] and Lora-Lee [Edwards] Bell [1948] of Bethany, Conn. Recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. FSAA Life members, Wendell Bell was named Outstanding Alumnus for the College of Social Sciences at the FSAA's Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala in 2005.  [Online]

Robert Cabral.Robert Cabral [1984] is featured in an article in “The San Francisco Chronicle.” He is executive winemaker at Williams Selyem Vineyards.

Kurt Chambers.Kurt Chambers [2005] is a Business Instructor at the College of Sequoias in Visalia. Kurt has an MBA from the Sid Craig School of Business and is an FSAA member

Eva Chavez.Eva Chavez [1985] has been promoted to assistant superintendent for human resources with the Merced County Office of Education.

Roy Christopher.Roy Christopher [1957, 1961] received his seventh Emmy Award in the category of art direction for a variety, music program or special. He was the art director for the 78th annual Academy Awards and is an FSAA Life member. Christopher was named Distinguished Alumnus by the FSAA at the Top Dog Alumni Awards Gala in 1993. [Online]

Marshall Lockie.Marshall Lockie [1986] is the new event production specialist for the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, based in Salt Lake City.

Arnold Schwarzenegger [D-Calif.] a tour of its facilities. Mr. Ricchiuti recently received the Greater Fresno Area Chamber of Commerce's 2006 Agriculturist of the Year Award. Courtney Roque and Angelo Bautista.Courtney Roque [2004] and Angelo Bautista were married Aug. 26, 2006 in Fresno.

Matthew Ryan Sasselli, expected to graduate from Fresno State with the Class of 2029.Jeremy Sasselli [1999] and his wife Elizabeth are proud to announce the birth of their first child, Matthew Ryan, born February 7, 2006. The future Bulldog’s expected to graduate with the Class of 2029.

"The Messenger" by Daniel Silva [2006].Daniel Silva [1983] was recently featured in the "Kalamazoo Gazette" for his latest best-selling novel "The Messenger."

"Probably the World's Best Story About a Dog and the Girl Who Loved Me" [2006] by D. James Smith. [Photo by THE FRESNO BEE].D. James Smith [1978] was featured in "The Fresno Bee" for his second book, "Probably the World's Best Story About a Dog and the Girl Who Loved Me." The book takes place a half-century ago in Orange Cove City, which was inspired by Smith's childhood home in Fresno's Tower District.
