A junior, Megan Jacobsen follows in her brother’s [Ryan Jacobsen, ’02 and ’04] footsteps to Fresno State. An agricultural communications major from Easton, she’s a FSAA student scholarship recipient and also a member of the Smittcamp Family Honors College. “I’m very thankful for the countless of opportunities that have come my way while attending Fresno State,” she said. “FSAA members are the foundation to the success of so many students, including myself. Thank you for your generosity.”

A sophomore, Jared Lindo is the inaugural recipient of the Bulldog Pride Fund, an endowment scholarship maintained by the FSAA. A civil engineering major, he’s also the third brother from his Modesto-area family to attend Fresno State. “I dearly appreciate this kindness,” says Jared. “I promise to work hard with my studies to make you proud!”

Beau Williamson Named 2006-07 National FFA President
Fresno State student, Beau Williamson, was named the National FFA President at the 79^th National FFA Convention. The son of Scott and Diane Williamson of Clovis, his new position will require traveling more than 100,000 miles in approximately 40 states, as well as an international tour to Japan. [Online]

NIRS + GPS + GIS = Research at Fresno State
Fresno State research using sophisticated wine grape harvesting system using NIRS [Near-Infra-Red Spectroscopy], GPS [Global Positioning Systems] and GIS [Geographic Information Systems] was recently presented and hailed as as breakthrough by enology and viticulture academia. Fresno State Winery is the only fully-operational winery on a college campus in the nation. [Online]

Victor Davis Hanson: Claremont Statesmanship Award
Professor Emeritus of Classics Victor Davis Hanson has been named the recipient of the Claremont Institute’s Statesmanship Award for 2006. Currently the Martin and Illie Anderson Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, he most recently published book is “A War Like No Other: How the Athenians and the Spartans Fought the Peloponnesian War,” published in October by Random House.

Daniel Chacon [1989], the author of "and the shadows took him," "Chicano Chicanery" and "Black Sound" is currently the Distinguished Visiting Fiction Writer in the MFA program at Fresno State.

Lloyd John Ellis [1975] was featured in "Big fair, big fun" published by "The Fresno Bee" for playing his trumpet at the beginning of every horse race at The Big Fresno Fair.

Ryan Giannetta [2001] was honored at Homecoming during the football game's halftime show with the Norm and Pat Molgia Alumni Award, presented by the Bulldog Marching Band.

Christopher Healy [2004] has been promoted to the Director of Expansion for Sigma Nu Fraternity, Inc.

Rachel Jack [2002] and Kenneth Kimura are happy to announce their engagement. The wedding ceremony will take place January 6, 2007 in Fresno.

Al Radka [1941] has been posthumously honored with the naming of Al Radka Park in Fresno. An all-conference football player at Fresno State College, he was an FSAA Life member.

Michael Ravicchio [1985] was featured in the article titled "Patrons and saints" published by "The Fresno Bee." He owns Evergreen Nursery in Clovis. 

Luis Santana is the Executive Director of the Fresno Covenant Foundation [FCF], overseeing programming geared to improve student achievement, including development and replication of after school literacy programs.

Nicolas “Nick” Watney [2003] participated in the Save Mart Shootout golf tournament at the Riverbend Golf Club in Fresno. 

Jeff Weaver, a former Fresno State pitcher, started Game 5 of the World Series for the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday and led the Cardinals to a 4-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Richard Whitten [1961] and his wife, Kay were featured in “The Fresno Bee” for actively assisting Vision Health International, a non-profit organization that provides eye care to those in poor countries.

Arthur Wiebe was recognized for his outstanding accomplishments as one Tabor College's 2006 Alumni Merit Award winners.
