Editha
"Ann" Atkinson and her husband,
Jerry Atkinson, who own Center Chevrolet in San Bernadino,
received the Rotary High Ethical Standards in Business Award for their and
their company's community and state involvement. The two met while
attending California State University, Fresno.
JessaLee
Blackwell [2002] and Sonny Goehring were married on Oct. 7, 2006
at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lodi, California. They spent their honeymoon
in Hawaii and make their home in Lockeford, California.
Kim
Bobby [1991] has been appointed by the University of Puget Sound
to the position of chief diversity officer. She will also teach at the
university as an associate professor of education. She earned her
bachelor's degree in business administration from California State
University, Fresno.
Scott
Fichtner [1998] now works as an Agronomist for Western
Farm Service
after majoring in Plant Science at Fresno State, receiving his Masters
degree from Texas A&M University [2001], and his PhD from Colorado State
University [2007]. Fichtner comes from a family of Bulldogs; his father
Edwin [1962], his mother Patricia (Daldin) Fichtner [1964], and his
brother Edwin Fichtner [1997] all graduated from Fresno State!
Shane
& Bianca Gunn are proud to announce the birth of their valentines
day twin girls! Marisol weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces, and Isabella weighed 5
pounds 14 ounces. Mom, dad and the girls are all doing wonderful!
Allen
K. Lanse [1977] was featured in the June 2007 edition of the
Imagine Fresno magazine for his impressive restoration of his 1959 Austin
Healy MkIII. The car had been undergoing restoration for 10 years by Lanse.
Only 17,712 cars were manufactured during its 12 years of production.
Florence
Ndidi (O'Neal) Griffin [1985], a Fresno State nursing professor,
is engaged to be married to Louie Myers of Illinois on July 7, 2007. Myers
won an all expense paid honeymoon to South Africa from ESSENCE magazine
after entering a contest for potential grooms which was featured on "Good
Morning America".
Anthony
O'Geen
[1966] plans to retire in the next few years after 38 years of teaching
physics and biology at Bret Harte High School. O’Geen was named Bret
Harte’s Teacher of the Year in 1996, and again in 2006. In addition to
teaching high school, he also coaches cross-country running at Columbia
College.
Nancy
Osborne [1976] celebrated her 30 year milestone working as an
anchorwoman, reporter, producer, writer and host at KFSN, Channel 30. She
graduated from California State University, Fresno where she received
degrees in speech communication and theatre arts.
Henry T. Perea [(2001] and his family were featured in
the
June edition of the Imagine Fresno magazine. For Perea, becoming a public
servant was a natural choice. "I've always been involved in the community
in some way." Perea is currently a member of the Fresno City Council
representing District 7.
Marc
Raygoza [1995] founded the business
Vine Global, an online interface
which offers e-commerce solutions that enable U.S. online retailers to
quickly and cost-effectively expand into international markets through
language. Raygoza graduated from California State University, Fresno with
a degree in accounting.
Al
Sanchez [1969] has retired as principle of Mayfair Elementary
School after 23 years of service.
Joseph
Soldani [1971] is retiring from his post as the Madera City
Attorney, a position he has held for 14 years. Soldani was the first
full-time city attorney for Madera.
Brenda
(Carpenter) Weatherly [1986] has joined the Gennis Agency as
Director of Sales. Weatherly
has a degree in
advertising from California State University, Fresno. Previously with the
Hollister Free Lance and other San Benito County Businesses and
organizations, Weatherly will be in charge of New Business Sales and
Marketing for the agency.
Warren
Weaver [1969] is retiring from his position as agriculture
professor at Elk Grove High School, a post he held for nearly four
decades. He has taught agriculture to an estimated 8,000 high school
students. He graduated with a degree in agriculture from California State
University, Fresno.
James
Vergara [1980], the current Media Production Coordinator for San
Joaquin Delta College, recently won an Aurora Award for his Delta College
recruitment video for their Police Academy, "POST Academy." The Aurora
Award is a national competition that recognizes excellence in
video/film/media production. April 27th.
