TASTE event was a great success
Students had the opportunity to shadow an alumnus for the day and have
lunch with fellow classmates. Five restaurant was packed with
approximately 150 Bulldogs on March 25th. A couple students were offered
internships that day and one student was even offered a job! Thanks to
all the alumni that participated in this wonderful event, especially the
students and alumni that helped plan the experience. We look forward
to the MCJ TASTE event next year.

Congrats to the Craig School of Business! A team of bright students placed first and fourth at the California State Human Resource Games held at California State University, Stanislaus on February 28th. The two teams will compete for the Society for Human Resource Management Pacific West regional title in Boise, ID in early April.
Secret Garden Party will benefit Arne Nixon Center - Arne Nixon Center
Advocates at California State University, Fresno, will host its seventh
annual Secret Garden Party from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, April 19 in Fresno. The
“secret” location will be revealed to attendees upon registration.

Grad students to present Asian-American lit papers March 27th - Eleven
graduate students from the English Department at California State
University, Fresno are heading for the Multiethnic Literature of the U.S.
Conference in April but nine will first present their papers on campus from
11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Friday, March 27, in Peters Business Building, Room 194.
The Fresno presentations, “A Century of Asian American Literature,” are free
and open to the public.
Common Threads to recognize five women - Five women representing Fresno, Kings, Merced and Tulare counties have been selected as the 2009 honorees for the Common Threads Award, which recognizes women from the San Joaquin Valley for their agricultural, philanthropic and community service. They will be honored April 3rd.
Preview Day registration doubles and is moved to the Save Mart Center - Preview Day was Saturday March 28th and nearly 4,000 students and parents attended – a record-setting number that prompted the event to be moved to the Save Mart Center.
David Durham is national writing award finalist - David Anthony Durham, an associate professor of English is one of five finalists for the 2009 John W. Campbell Award for best new science-fiction or fantasy writer.
Budget Plan update - President John D. Welty offers a video update on the preliminary Fresno State budget plan for 2009-10 and the ongoing state fiscal crisis.
Autism Awareness month activities planned in April - The Central
California Autism Center at California State University, Fresno plans
several events to mark Autism Awareness month in April.
Night of Champions Event - The annual Night of Champions awards
celebration will be held on Wednesday, April 29th at 7 p.m. in the
Satellite Student Union. All Fresno State faculty and staff are welcome
to attend as we honor the achievements of our student-athletes in the
classroom, on the field/court, and in the community. The keynote speaker
is Scott A. Graham, former Fresno State student-athlete and graduate.
Scott is the founder and owner of XPACS (Xtreme Personal Assistant
Concierge Services). Two current student-athletes have also been
selected as guest speakers.
Football Season Tickets - The 2009 football home opener is
Saturday, September 5th vs. UC Davis. The remaining schedule will be
released in early April. Stay tuned to www.gobulldogs.com for the
announcement. Football season ticket renewals for 2009 are currently
being accepted and new season tickets will go on sale within twenty four
hours of the schedule release.

David Tobin (1999) is one of the leading photographers of live
concert imagery. He has been shooting for magazines like Rolling Stone,
Revolver, People, Entertainment Weekly, 944, Campus Circle, Rock City

Relth (1975) has joined Whittelsey Doyle, a full-service land
brokerage and advisory firm and market leader in the sale of land in
Southern California, as a senior broker to focus on the marketing of
residential land and development opportunities for sale in San Diego
County.
Ben Parmentier (2008) is a legislative assistant for housing, financial services, veterans’ affairs, the budget and taxes. Parmentier began interning in Rep. Jim Costa’s (D-Calif) district office while in college and then worked on the Congressman’s campaign before recently moving to Washington and is now a new legislative assistant.
