Class Notes 

Scott Barnes (1986, ‘93), the vice president and athletics director for Utah State University, has been named committee chair for the NCAA Division 1 basketball program for 2014-15. He once served as the general manager of the Fresno Flames of the World Basketball League.

Fred Bologna
 (1972) is the director of “New Wrinkles” at Fresno City College for the past decade. He’s been a mainstay at Roger Rocha’s Music Hall, as well as Roosevelt School for the Arts.


Edward Diener (1968) has been named a Distinguished Scientist Award by the American Psychological Association for lifetime achievement in scholarship and research. In 2012, he was presented an Outstanding Alumnus Award by the Fresno State Alumni Association on behalf of the College of Science and Mathematics.

Roseanna Ferroggiaro
 (2000) and Matt Horton (1993, ’95) were married on Jan. 19, 2013 at First Congregational Church in Fresno, followed by a Disney-themed.

David Fitzgerald
 (1989) has published “The Complete Heretic's Guide to Western Religion – Book One: The Mormons” via Kindle. He lives and works in San Francisco.

Nedra Gallegos
 (1994) has launched a comedy web series called “Off the G.” in association with the Brooklyn Arts Council. It celebrates challenges that take place when a variety of cultures, races and socio-economic groups converge. More Header

James A. Herrick (1976) co-edited “After the Genome: A Language for Our Local Biotechnical Future” with Michael J. Hyde. Dr. Herrick is the Guy Vanderjagt Professor of Communication at Hope College in Holland, Mich.

Gail Perry Henricksen (1973) and Leslie Borasi (Alumna) have initiated a second printing of the well-received and popular “Huntington Lake: Celebrating 100 Years.” The 120-page book include a rich history of the community with photos and illustrations. It includes a look at the no longer active Fresno State summer school program that was held at the lake for 30 years.

Garlyn Hollingshead (2003, ’06) and Gerald Rude (2010, ’12) were married on July 7, 2012. They both hold undergraduate and graduates degrees from Fresno State.


Rodger Jensen (1941, 2010) holds a model of a B-29, which he flew during World War II. Jensen, a veteran of the Army Air Corps, and his flight crew were part of the 315thBomb Wing stationed in Guam. He and other veterans were highlighted in article “Wartime Memories” published in “The Fresno Bee” on Memorial Day. Kent Karsevar (1994, 2012) has had his doctoral dissertation, “Fundraising Practices of the University of California, the California State University, and California Private Universities,” selected as the Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation winner of the 2013 CASE John Grenzebach Award for Outstanding Research in Philanthropy for Educational Advancement. He is a senior development director at Fresno State.

Jesse Katz (2007) has been named to the “40 Under 40: America's Tastemakers List” by Wine Enthusiast magazine. He is the winemaker for Lancaster Estate Winery and Roth Estate Winery, both located in in Healdsburg, Calif.More Header 



Christopher R. Martinez
 (2009) has published his first novel, “Ashes in the Fall,” a fantasy tale of the brutal expansion of the Arusyan Empire and the problems it faces. It is available on Kindle.

 (2005) is engaged to be married to Rachael Marie Bloch on Sept. 21, 2013 at a private residence in Fresno, Calif.

Six Fresno State alumni will be guest performers at the upcoming Good Company Players’ 40thAnniversary Show: Gordon Moore (1984),Janice Noga (1968, 1980), Clytee Ramsey(1972), Seth Scott (2005), Joleen Siebert(Alumna) and Terry Lewis (Alumnus). The performance takes place at Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theatre on June 26th.

 (1993) returns to the stage after a decade’s absence in Christopher Durang’s “Laughing Wild.” The play runs June 8-10 at Cap 21 Studios in New York City.

Amy Shuklian (1987) has been selected as grand marshal for Fresno’s 23rd annual Rainbow Pride Parade. The Mayor of Visalia lives with her partner of nearly 20 years, Mary Randol, and their three Chocolate Labrador Retrievers (Godiva, Molly Brown, and Georgee).

Former Fresno State and UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian (1955) will be honored with a bronze statue outside the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV later this year.
