John C. Beynon earned his B.A. and M.A. at the University of Utah and his Ph.D. at the University of California, Riverside. He teaches courses in Restoration and eighteenth-century British literature and culture, queer theory, and in lesbian and gay literature.
Dr. Beynon has published essays on Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, William Beckford, Daniel Defoe, and Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure. He also co-edited Lesbian Dames: Sapphism in the Long Eighteenth Century (Ashgate 2010). He is currently working on a project that explores the tea-drinking culture in eighteenth-century Britain.
In spring 2014, Dr. Beynon joined Fresno State's initial DISCOVERe faculty learning community, and beginning fall 2014, he will be using tablet and digital technologies in English courses. He has also served as Fresno State's Upper-Division Writing Exam Coordinator since 2008.
