Dr. Kathleen Godfrey (Ph.D., Arizona State University, 1998) is a professor and director of the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project. Her teaching interests include secondary English teaching methods, teaching with technology, American literature since 1900, and contemporary young adult literature.
Dr. Godfrey has recently published two articles on teaching in California English and an interview with poet Wendy Rose (Hopi/Miwok) in Studies in American Indian Literature. In addition to making numerous presentations at local schools and national/international conferences on various aspects of literacy, multi-ethnic literature, and women's writing, she has published articles and book reviews in Western American Literature, Southwestern American Literature, andTexas Review.
During the 2008-2009 academic school year, Dr. Godfrey was the Fulbright Roving Scholar for Upper Secondary Schools in Norway. Based in Oslo, she traveled all over Norway giving workshops to high school students and teachers on American culture and education. Her presentations included such topics as the 2008 Presidential Election, U.S. Teens Speak, Literature of Immigration, and American Indian Literature.
