Being an undeclared, undecided, or "deciding" student places you in very good company! Between 20% and 50% of all entering students define themselves in this way. Students classify themselves as "undeclared" for many reasons. For whatever reason, however, it is important to know how to deal with the whole issue of "deciding."
The University is here to help you in a number of ways. The Office of Advising Services, with academic counselors trained to address the special need of "deciding" students. Equally central is Career Services with its myriad of career-related resources. Plan to visit these offices at least once a semester.
COMPASS (Combining Opportunities to Meet Personal, Academic and Student Success) is a one-hour workshop designed specifically for students who have not declared a major or who are considering a major change. The workshop provides students with information about resources available to them to aid in the exploration process. Contact the Office of Advising Services and Career Services for more information about COMPASS and career-related resources.
