Drugs and Alcohol

California State University, Fresno is committed to keeping our students safe and healthy. The Alcohol Safety Council strives to reduce harm associated with high risk drinking through education, collaboration, student leadership development and provision of resources to support and encourage healthy choices among Fresno State students.
Fresno State has a long history of offering alcohol-free alternative programs and events for students and the campus community in general. A central feature of the campus prevention programs is the promotion of multiple strategies that affect the campus environment as a whole.

Student Health Services provides education material and information. Peer Health Educators make presentations on a variety of health and wellness topics throughout the semester; including alcohol and other drugs.

Psychological Counseling Services has licensed professionals that provide counseling and therapy for students that may have personal concerns related to alcohol or drug abuse. Visit http://studentaffairs.csufresno.edu/programs/alcohol.html for more information about our policy on drugs and alcohol restrictions on campus.

The electronic Check-Up to Go, e-CHUG is a brief self-assessment that provides you with accurate, detailed and personalized feedback on your use of alcohol. The online alcohol self-assessment gives unbiased feedback about drinking. Based on your input, it gives a personalized drinking profile which includes calories consumed, costs, estimated BAC (blood alcohol content), risks, and comparisons to Fresno State campus norms. Local referrals and resources are provided. The program can be used as the basis for homework or classroom assignments. e-CHUG is important to all students, from non-drinkers to heavy drinkers.
