The Mission of the School
The primary mission of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development (KSOEHD) is the recruitment and development of ethically informed leaders for classroom teaching, education administration, counseling, and higher education. Our mission is realized through a framework of teaching, scholarship, and service that addresses regional, state, national, and international perspectives.
KSOEHD prepares highly competent educators and human development specialists, while providing professional support and leadership to the area community, promoting applied research, and providing experiences and opportunities that will enable employed professionals to remain current in their fields.
Students attend classes, study, and work in a state-of-the-art
Education Building. This five-story facility includes clinical
areas and computer and microteaching laboratories.
KSOEHD fosters the realization of human potential by preparing
those who work in the field of education and human development
to function more effectively and productively in a mutable and
increasingly diverse society.
The KSOEHD theme Leadership for Diverse Communities places
considerable emphasis on an educator who can function effectively
as a leader in a culturally and linguistically diverse society.
Specific goals of the KSOEHD are as follows: recruiting diverse
candidates representative of the region; providing leadership
in the application of best practice models and educational technology;
preparing graduates who have a command of content/pedagogical
knowledge and continue to grow professionally; establishing a
national demonstration site for exemplary practices in education
and counseling; supporting lifelong professional development of
practicing professionals through services and programs; preparing
leaders committed to serve in diverse communities; promoting performance
assessment as a key evaluation component in all programs; establishing
an exemplary university work environment; promoting development
activities for the attainment of program excellence; and being
the higher education partner of choice for the public schools
in the five county region.
