Air Science Division (Air Sc)
1A-B. Basic Air Science (2-2)
(Three hours weekly.) Provides the AFROTC student with a general knowledge
of geopolitics as a background for subsequent Air Force subjects, and with
a global viewpoint for his future studies; presents features of geography
important in air planning, air transportation, and communications; facts
about the world from the Air Force viewpoint. Leadership, drill and exercise
of command.
2A-B. Basic Air Science (2-2)
(Three hours weekly.) Second year basic course for AFROTC. Maps and
aerial photographs, basic principles of aerial navigation; survey of meteorology,
aerodynamics and propulsion; applied air power and organization for the
defense of the U. S. A. Leadership, drill and exercise of command.
100A-B. Advanced Air Science-Flight Operations (3-3)
(Five hours weekly.) First year advanced course for AFROTC. Instruction
which will facilitate and materially augment the academic phases of training
in the flying schools of the Air Training Command; introduction to the flight
operation career training option and to major air commands; the mission,
type of equipment and method of operation of each of the commands covered
; principles of flight, aircraft ,engineering; introduction to instruments,
air navigation and meteorology. Leadership, drill and exercise of command.
Prerequisites: AS 1A-B, 2A-B; or equivalent.
100C. Air Force ROTC Summer Camp (3)
Six weeks of training required for advanced students at some designated
military installation in order to qualify for a reserve commission. Attendance
may be during the summer preceding the senior year, with the exception that
special provisions may apply to veterans. Same as AS 101C (credit may not
be received in both 100c and 101C).
101A-B. Advanced Air Science Administration and Logistics (3-3)
(Five hours weekly.) Military publications, correspondence, individual
and organizational records, pay and allowance, nonappropriated funds, and
special administrative responsibilities; Air Force supply including organization,
publications, stock control, receipt and turn in, storage, issue, accounting
for and disposal of property; motor, air, and commercial transportation.
Leadership, drill and exercise of command. Prerequisites: AS 1A-B, 2A-B;
or equivalent.
101C. AFROTC Summer Camp (3)
(See AS 100C.)
102A-B. Advanced Air Science-Administration and Logistics (3-3)
(Five hours weekly.) Purpose and basic functions of the military staff;
administration of personnel from the level of Wing Base Staff; functions
of the Air Comptroller and Food Service Supervisor. Leadership, drill and
exercise of command. Prerequisites: AS 101A-B or permission of instructor.
103A-B. Advanced Air Science-Flight Operations (3-3)
(Five hours weekly.) Advanced instruction in navigation and bombing including
theory of radar; .duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Countermeasures
Officer, Radar. Observer, and all weather fighter units. Leadership, drill
and exercise of command. Prerequisites: AS 100A-B or permission of instructor.
