Upper-Division Honors Certificate

The Armenian Studies Upper-Division Honors Program is designed to encourage outstanding students to participate in a challenging course of study. Candidates will develop their intellectual and creative talents and have the chance to interact directly with faculty. The Honors Program provides the opportunity for highly qualified, advanced Armenian Studies Program students to sharpen their analytical abilities, refine their writing skills, and expand their knowledge of Armenian studies. The honors culminating experience itself is an opportunity for students to apply the learning and skills they have acquired as Armenian Studies minors.

Student requirements for successful completion of the honors program are as follows:

Honors Scholarship. All students accepted into the Armenian Studies Honors Program are guaranteed full registration fees for two years (four semesters). Scholarship estimate for fall 2003/spring 2004 is $2,600.

Student must maintain the following GPA to be eligible for the scholarship: 3.4 GPA for junior year. GPA must be no less than 3.25 during overall university career. Note: Up to of four of these scholarships can be awarded in any one academic year.

Structure of the Program. Applications for the program are ready in the spring for the next academic year (announcement on the application process will be posted on the Armenian Studies Program Web site: www.armenianstudies.csufresno.edu

Honors Advising. The Armenian Studies Program offers a special advising program for students participating in the various honors programs on campus. Students are e-mailed announcements about special academic and scholarship opportunities. Other professional development and leadership workshops are provided as well.
