The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)
is designed to make higher education a possibility for students who have
the potential and motivation to achieve academic success with the assistance
of comprehensive support services.
Eligibility. To qualify for EOP, you must be a first-time undergraduate
applicant to the CSU system, a California resident, and come from a family
with a history of low income. In addition, you must demonstrate potential
for success and be motivated to achieve your educational goals. If the combination
of your grades, test scores, and high school courses does not meet criteria
normally required for entrance to the university, special admission may
be offered. EOP also admits regularly eligible students with specific economic
and educational support needs. EOP students transferring from another CSU
campus are also eligible to apply.
Services for EOP Students. Services designed to support and assist
EOP students in developing their academic potential include the following:
EOP Grant. EOP students may be offered an EOP grant each academic
year. You may apply for the grant by using the standard financial aid application
form and procedures required by the Financial Aid Office.
How to Apply for EOP. When you apply for admission through EOP, you
are required to submit additional forms and materials. This process enables
EOP to select the most qualified applicants to fill the limited number of
enrollment openings available each year.
Pick up a copy of the EOP application from the EOP office at any CSU campus
or from your school counselor. You can also apply online at www.csumentor.edu.
