Cricket Barakzai, Ed.D.,FNP-C, CNM, CNS
Mary (Cricket) Barakzai is currently the interim director of the Central California Center for Excellence in Nursing at California State University, Fresno.
Dr. Barakzai has a BA in Anthropology from Wellesley College, a BSN in Nursing from Cornell University, a MSN in Maternal and Child Health from Columbia University, and an EdD from the University of California, Davis in Educational Leadership. She has worked for many years as both a Certified Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner primarily with Spanish-speaking populations in rural health clinics.
Dr. Barakzai has taught in the past at both the University of California, San Francisco and at the University of California, Davis and has extensive experience in distance delivered coursework. She is active in a number of professional organizations, including the California Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Central Valley Coalition of Nursing Organizations. Her research interests include the utilization of technology in education and healthcare, interdisciplinary chronic care, and nursing workforce issues.
