Juan Ibarra
Community Health Capacity Building Specialist
Juan Ibarra joined the Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program (CCROPP) in October 2007. In his day-to-day role, he provides a range of capacity-building support for the Kings County Department of Public Health. He’s responsible for working with local government officials, health department staff, and community groups, in order to influence policies for environmental change that support obesity prevention.
The Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program is a program dedicated to creating healthier environments that support healthy eating and active living. The program is facilitated by California State University, Fresno and brings together eight public health departments, community-based organizations and community councils to address environmental and policy challenges to obesity.
Juan has attended California State University, Fresno and has a Bachelors degree in Psychology. He also has a Masters degree in Social Work and completed a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (P.P.S.C) program, receiving three advanced specializations that include, School Social Work, Counseling, and Child Welfare and Attendance. In addition, Juan has several years of health and mental health research experience.
