Mariana Ramirez
Community Health Assistant
Mariana Ramirez is a Community Health Assistant for the Central California Regional Obesity Prevention Program at California State University, Fresno. She supports the Regional Program Coordinator in regional policy and system changes that promote physical activity and healthy nutrition. In addition, she assists in organizing policy advocacy, supporting data collection efforts with local PHD’s and supporting regional program objectives.
Mariana has worked on public health programs for the private and nonprofit sectors since 2003. She has worked for Central Valley Family Health Center, Centro La Familia, and Encourage Tomorrow. Recently she worked for the Central Valley Health Policy Institute assisting on research projects at the county and regional levels.
She graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a minor in Communication at California State University, Fresno. She also earned a certificate in Cross-Cultural Competency from the Social Work Department. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, International Sociology Honor Society, and the Lambda Pi Eta Scholastic, Communication Honor Society.
