Cristina Gomez Vidal-Diaz

CristinaCristina Gomez –Vidal  is currently the Madera County CCROPP Community Coordinator.Madera County's project is promoting safe places to play and increasing access to food through community engagement from all backgrounds.

Currently she is working with community residents to advocate for the inclusion of policies that promote walkability and increase green space into the the city of Madera's general plan and the Fairmead specific plan. She serves as a member on the City of Madera's General Plan steering committee. This role has helped her facilitate community dialogue for residents that are not normally represented in the decision making process.

She has worked in the non-profit sector for the past seven years offering strategic solutions and technical assistance to individuals and organizations to better the lives of others. Cristina is a lead trainer on health advocacy for National Community Development Institute.

Her work began as a Coordinator of a 1.9 million dollar teen pregnancy prevention initiative funded by the California Wellness Foundation, designed to develop and implement teen pregnancy prevention strategies in various sectors. Sectors included schools, providers, community based organizations and the faith community.  Her leadership training includes Central Valley Health Policy Institute, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality Leadership Institute and Community Builders Leadership Institute.  She serves on The Physician Assistant Committee for the State of California and on the Sherman Thomas Charter School Board.
