Fresno County Leaders Analyze Governor’s Health Care Reform Proposal

February 6, 2007

The Central Valley Health Policy Institute at California State University, Fresno sponsored a local media briefing bringing Fresno County leaders together to discuss perspectives on the Governor’s health care financing and public health proposal, as well as other major alternative proposals.

The discussion was moderated by Dr. John Capitman, executive director of the Institute and featured leaders from health care, health policy, business and advocacy groups for underserved populations. This event represents one of several forums designed by the Institute to educate and engage the public on this debate.

Panelist members included:

  • John Maffeo, MD, Chief Executive Officer, Sequoia Community Health Centers
  • Gwen Morris, Senior Director of Programs and Partnership, One by One Leadership and Facilitator of the Local Black Caucus
  • Deborah Nankivell, President and Chief Executive Officer, Fresno Business Council
